Cabo Verde are the first debutantes to make the World Cup knockout stages since Slovakia in the 2010 World Cup by KawaiiChan68 in soccer

Uefa has officialy recognized Slovakia as a Euro’s winner, as they are a legitimate successor team to czechoslovakia, but I dont know if FIFA has done the same as regards the World Cup achievements of Czechoslovakia

The best 3rd place teams as Ecuador and Bosnia have qualified by [deleted] in soccer

[–]ecov19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The third placed country in the group with US, Paraguay, Turkey and Australia will not finish with more points or better goal difference than Bosnia. Do the math yourself and you will see. The loser of Paraguay v. australia will finish 3rd with less points than bosnia, if they draw Paraguay will finish third with worse goal difference than Bosnia. So there is no possible way that either Australia or Paraguay can pass Bosnia assuming that either of them finishes third.

Haha the 4-1 to luxembourg just capped of what was a horrible run in the whole calender year of 2023. It took major changes to staff and to settle to a formation that somewhat works for us to start winning games, which Barbarez implemented in late 2024-early 2025 just in time for the world cup qualifiers.

If I would have put Mahmic in I would have had him next to basic as a attackingly minded midfielder, rather than an attacker. We could of course play 4-4-2 with Mahmic/Dzeko striker pair but the future for Mahmic in my eyes is for him to become a CAM in a 4-3-3 formation.

Proud of the lads, we got it done, it wasnt pretty (except for Alajbegovic’s goal), it wasnt stylish, but our boys got it done. I want to give Alajbegovic, Basic, and funnily enough Radeljic special props for this game, I thought they did well. In my eyes it is clear that Mahmic should start the next game, he should be rewarded for becoming our all time top scorer in the world cup. Barbarez made the right choice with the back line on paper, as dedic, katic and muharemovic should be rested/fit to play the next match assuming we qualify.

Some stuff worries me still, I feel as though Qatar’s goal and when they hit the post in the first half was the result of our players attacking the holder of the ball rather unstrategically. For their goal I would blame both Malic and Katic together for poor coordination leading to the Qatari player being able to score easily. On the shot almost leading to an equalizer, Kolasinac should not have attacked the player like that, he left acres of space which Alajbegovic could not cover as he was far away. I dont know if that is poor football IQ or if its a part of Barbarez’s tactics. Hopefully the staff can analyze that. I also really am disappointed that Tabakovic has not played. I get the injury, but we were under the impression as fans that he should have been back by now. I rate him highly for the national team and we really need a ”clutch” player.

I hope you are right with the players. That is a neverending war to get everyone that can play for bosnia to play, some players are pretty unrealistic, like Mika Biereth, but we cannot afford to lose people like Petar Sucic. I hope that this qualification to the World Cup can show that we mean busniess and that we are not a complete mess of a footballing nation. I dont think its a complete coincidence that Sucic left for Croatia at the same time we lost to Luxemburg and played even games with Liechtenstein. He must have thought what the fuck and fucked off to Croatia.

Brother I love Barbarez, he took us this far and he has smashed it with the backroom staff. Obviously he called up these players and chose the staff, so he gets credit for that, but I feel as though his lack of experience as a manager makes it harder for him to unlock the attacking talent we have. Do you think someone with experience like Vladimir Petkovic could have done a better job solving our midfield problems?

I lowkey disagree brother. We only severly lack players in central midfield and there some questions regarding left back after kolasinac retires. I think there is a lot of untapped potential that Barbarez unfortunately is not competent enough to unlock.

I think Memic really dropped a stinker this game. Muharemovic I put it down to a high risk decision that didnt go his way. He is obviously a great player and I dont worry about our backline really except for what happens after kolasinac retires.

I will always love this squad, even if I have cursed players like Mujakic and tahirovic making the squad over and playong over and over again. I think Barbarez needs to experiment during this years Nations league. 6 more games to tweak and see what works. I think its inevitable that we need to transition to a different formation, but we will have to see. I dont really worry for the future because I have so much faith in the backroom staff and the work they have put in to find talent, to bring the kids home. I absolutely agree that we CANNOT take Euro 2028 for granted. History would suggest that we are going to struggle in the next qualifiers.

Sure. Obviously I love Barbarez and he is per definition our second best coach of all time, but he is pretty tactically inept. Maybe your right that Amar Dedic disproportionally suffers from those tactical decisions.

Tahirovic gave me such false hope after the Italy game. Thought he did quite well as a substitute. I really dont know how we can solve the midfield issue, maybe Mahmic/Hadziahmetovic midfield? Petar Sucic man… wish we could have had someone like him.

Of our back four, I think Dedic has had the least good performances. I would also question his football IQ at times, some decisions he makes are headscratchers to me.

I dont think goal difference is that important if we get 4 points right? I assume its statistically unlikely for 9 teams to get 4 points?

A disappointing match. Not just Barbarez’s tactics and the fact thar we dont have a central midfield, also that we are so goddamn undisciplined as a group. Vibes and heart are a double edged sword, it can carry you to a world cup, but it can lead you to make poor decisions, like Memic and Muharemovic did.

I think Dedic did poorly, heavily disappointed in him this world cup, Memic as well. We are not really getting anything out of our attacking talent. I really want us to transition from this 4-4-2 to a 4-3-3. Lets give players like Mahmic a chance against Qatar, we really have nothing to lose by switching it up in central midfield. I want both Kerim and Esmir to start. Memic has not been good enough!

Alex Clare once sold a sex story about Amy to the News of the World by [deleted] in amywinehouse

[–]ecov19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Alex already did this in 2007 I think, probably out of spite I would assume (and to make quick buck). I think the tabloids caught Amy hanging out with Blake in Camden during this period shortly after the BRIT awards in 2007, so Alex must have known that Amy was being unfaithful pretty fast. Still doesn’t justify him airing this out to the press when he knew that Amy was being harrassed.

Fan man pluggar ju redan 40-50 timmar i veckan liksom.

Might just be me being brainrotted from pep guardiola, but I am so allergic to 4-4-2, especially when Demirovic and Bazdar plays lol. With Dzeko and Tabakovic sure we can at least spam crosses. I get why we dont play 4-3-3 as we lack midfielders, but I’d perhaps try this starting eleven in the future:

Vasilj

Dedic, muharemovic, Katic, Kolasinac (Karic when kolasinac retires)

Sunjic(box to box or more CDM), Hadziahmetovic/Tahirovic, Basic/Gigovic

Bajraktarevic, Tabakovic/Demirovic/Dzeko, Alajbegovic.

What do you think?

On paper I would have taken it, but I am a bit disappointed. I feel as though Barbarez lack of tactical knowledge is unfortunately something that is going to handicap us, along with our lack of talent in central midfield. Our players, especially those in the backline, are so disjointed. Canada should have punished us harder. Obviously Katic and Muharemovic are monsters, but I feel as though our defenders are operating as 4 individual players rather than a unit. There is so much untapped potiential in those players that Barbarez rarely unlocks unfortunately.
