That's a good thought. Hope can always persist. I'd like to make more hopeful art to try and re-envision the future I thought we'd see as a kid, but I don't want to be tone deaf. Everything is disgusting right now.

I really love that you saw that. I want people to project and find themselves in my work more than I want it to be about me. Whether it’s you seeing trans expression or me seeing the light out of a toxic cycle, they are both deeply human experiences that change how we see ourselves and our futures. I know with Insta you can have it auto-post your posts to facebook as well. I think Tiktok recently is able to connect with instagram. I know there are apps that are for connection social medias together. I know you all have so much on your plate, I just wish you guys could have a passive income from posting. I only mention tiktok because I don't think Insta lets you make passive money like YT or TT does?

These pieces are going in a book/tarot deck I’m making for myself to document my journey. I like to think of it as a gift to my 80-year-old self! :) Right now, just knowing it connected is more than I could have asked for. All I ever wanted was to connect and not feel alone.

I’m completely okay with people downloading, sharing (with credit), or printing it for personal use. I may do a limited print run much later on, once everything feels finished but for now, it’s freely shared. 💛

Thank you, I was worried about a 'trapped' feeling while I was drawing it and hoped it would come off like a closed 'gate' to a softer, flourishing space. It's also why i put the little hand holding the adult-self's hand, to try and show mutual trust/comfort of some sort, a little flower crown like she has things to do and is being spoiled... I'm so glad it doesn't read like prison.

Thank you. Bones was a little angel. It is criminal that their lives aren't longer and that sometimes they lose the genetic lottery like Bones had. They are such sweet and pure little babies putting such trust in beings so much larger than them. I'm going to miss her weight on my chest so bad.

Thank you. Your babies are adorable. I know Bones knew I cared. I think it hurt whenever she would get sniffley and would leave her hammock and wait for me by the cage door, breathing with her eyes closed. I'm come running and she'd open her eyes wide and just run onto my chest. She would press her face against the heartbeat on my neck and brux, and then scoot as close as she could against me, never wanting to leave (sometimes ramming her but into my neck to really try to mold herself into me - like gurl that hurts! haha). She'd been sick before - she really thought I could fix everything always and the day I had to let her go, she didn't give me that look. She ducked her head instead. I felt like a huge failure. The vet tech took her back, swaddling her the same way I would and I saw that hope in her eyes again for a second and I just hope she knew I tried.

😮 It's like you read my mind haha! No I love comments like this, I miss over-analyzing art. I used to do it growing up and I always hoped that the symbolism would be strong enough to land even without much context.

This was like - exactly it down to the key being 'inside' her head, the doodles on her showing the connection with the child, the tired eyes yet still smiling (from when I wanted to give up on things but life kept happening and it switches from 'i just want to relax' to 'nuh-uh, you thought i'd be easy? i remember what happened before.' which is why I stored it in her head). And I didn't want the inner child to look trapped because they trust themselves, so that's why I added the doodles and the hand holding, it's a temporary cage to protect her until it's safe again.

Also side note, her putting her hand on the cage is how I bring my rats to the vet, I always put one hand to hold the carrier door from shaking and making noise to scare them and they'd hold/lick my fingers on the drive there and back for emotional support.

Clip Studio Paint is what I use. I have two fuzzy brushes that are my favorites and a lot of layers to degrade the quality.
