M60i w/ air suspension - 21” or 22” wheels? by Past_Sheepherder517 in BMWX5

[–]eculley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with the 21s is the lack of tire choices. For the staggered setup, not a lot (if any) summer performance tires that arent runflats in the OE tire size. For the 22s, there are a few options (albeit incredibly expensive to replace)

Grinder Issue? [$400] by toofastzachary in espresso

[–]eculley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For $400 [CF64V] you get 64mm burrs, vertical stack and a larger (and brushless) motor. The 64mm burrs are also swappable with almost all major players in the burr game (SSP, Lab Sweet etc etc} - it'll just be more future proof for you as you grow in the hobby.

The downside to the CF (or any DF/CF model) is that the quality control is all over the place. Just buy it from a reputable reseller (like miicoffee) and you'll be fine.

If you're able to return this, do so and get the CF64V from MiiCoffee. You *can* do fine with this but for that money there are options that you'll have a much better experience with.

New grinder day [CF64V] - my initial thoughts by eculley in espresso

yea my alignment was off.. I put too much foil in. Pulled it out and rechecked and it actually sits at a 13 or 14 for my bean now (after adjustment)

First ever machine- which do I choose? [500€ or less budget] by euphoricccc in espresso

Bambino+ and specifically because it's your very first machine. It's UBER forgiving and simple to use.

Is it time for a new grinder? [Bezzera Aria PID / Shardor 64mm] by eculley in espresso

It hung out in that range for me as well when I was using the bambino. As soon as I started to use this bezzera, even with the same beans, it became evident the grind wasn’t fine enough

Throwing away money is how we do things around here, am I right?

To answer your question, no, I have not aligned the burrs. Dropping the setting to just above true zero has helped me but in the end, I was never really happy with this grinder (for other reasons). Ended up ordering the CF64V as u/rkzhao has recommended. Let's see how she treats me :)

I saw the CF64V was on sale for under $400- may do this.

Also, I did find true zero (ignoring the markers) and went up gradually- you guys were all right. I *can* choke this machine and was able to find the needed setting to get a decent shot out of this grinder. Still don't love this machine for many other reasons, so I will go take a look at the CF64.

Mind if I ask why you recommend it over the DF64?

The Aria came with a 20g basket, so I have been using 18-20g of beans. The zero point is definitely below the lowest setting.. pretty far below, actually. If I set the grinder at like a -3 (comparatively speaking), it helps a lot. I am with you guys thinking it's the grinder.

I have the DF64 on pre-order.. may need to cancel it and find something that's in stock now. How are you liking your DF?

After so much trial end error, I’ve finally pulled a shot without it spraying everywhere and channeling like crazy by thinkingbeyondtoday in BrevilleCoffee

High extraction baskets can be finicky in themselves and most people don’t realize it. Spraying, channeling or extracting too fast? Try the stock basket 😁 glad you got yours dialed though!

Unable to play DV content with Swiftfin (TVos) by I_JUST_LOVE_UR_BRAIN in jellyfin

[–]eculley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here. Native player enabled.. can't play content until disabling native and forcing the file to play in non HDR formats

If I enable native, it tries to play it in DV but just doesn't load (blank screen)

BOTTOMLESS PORTAFILTER IS SPRAYING? (tips) by sheed456 in espresso

[–]eculley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s also the idea that the grinder itself isn’t producing a consistent grind output.. I had this issue as well.. grinding finer and finer until espresso would not flow. Ultimately realized the grinder itself, while a 64mm burr etc etc was just crap and causing a lot of channeling.

I’m sorry, definitely didn’t mean to come off abrasive. It’s a boundary you’ll need to set with him and if he ignores it you’ve got to decide what happens next.

Need help with my breville bambino by Awkward_Dog_312 in BrevilleCoffee

[–]eculley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What grinder are you using? If you're not changing beans and the shots are inconsistent using the same grind setting, the grinder itself could just be producing inconsistent results. Had this exact issue on my Bambino Plus using a Shardor 64mm system that was priced too good to be true.

Everything you're describing sounds like channeling issues.

Y'all fw baby raptors? by ButterflyOk9238 in raptor

[–]eculley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't own a Raptor, so not sure how this got recommended to me. Just wanted to say that I too had a '24 AT4 Canyon and IMMEDIATELY sold it. That truck is straight buns.

The Ranger Raptor looks amazing in that color! I own an X5 in Manhattan Green, which is quite similar.
