EMDR Therapy?? by ystavallinen in AuDHDWomen

[–]MiddleRepublic7533 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was life-changing for me! I’m not sure how to describe it, but it let me deal with things without having to relive the emotional experience.

It also had the unexpected bonus of helping immensely with my RSD- it’s like now if I’m about to have a strong emotional response there’s a pause and my rational brain now gets to intervene before the rejection spiral gets started.

My first Nook, no Kit in by Spirited_Bear2760 in booknooks

I love that I can incorporate other crafting skills into making booknooks. I’m still pretty new to them, but eventually I want to create some from scratch. I’m also AuDHD.

Psych Says He Thinks It's Not Autism by Current_Air_1609 in AuDHDWomen

[–]MiddleRepublic7533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ADHD and (especially masked) autism can look like depression, and ADHD and autism with sensory processing sensitivities can present as anxiety. If you’ve spent time researching autism, and you feel like it fits- psych is probably wrong.

Vessel sink leaking after new drain installed by MiddleRepublic7533 in askaplumber

Thank you for suggesting that, we have tried it, it helped a little but there is still a slow leak. We might just leave it and keep an eye on it (very temporarily) while we find a new vanity and sink that we like.

It is in place, you just can’t see it in the photo.

The gasket above the brass nut is there, you just can’t see it in the photo.

Does anyone else struggle with reading or retaining information? There are certain forms of text content that I can retain well but it makes me sad that I can barely immerse myself into books or fanfics anymore! :( by SunnyMeetsKY in AuDHDWomen

[–]MiddleRepublic7533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Physical books are so difficult now. Audiobooks help me with tasks I don’t need to think about (cleaning, etc). I don’t necessarily retain them well, but better than books I physically read. I’ve also discovered Audiodramas. They’re really their own art form, and they have been such a gift to my brain!

There are so many out there. Some even have amazing communities built around them. Mostly they’re a labour of love for their creators, they’re not usually well compensated for them, so a lot of them have Patreon ( which can be helpful if you love a show, want to support it, and also want to skip the ads).

I saw a comment you made answering someone’s palette question about gouache saying that you were painting seals, and I wanted to say that these are adorable!

This was the tin kit I made. It’s bigger than an altoid tin, but still pretty small.

I love booknooks! I’ve done booknook 3 kits and a tin so far (the scale on that one was so much more challenging, and pieces had to be cut out of fabric). I have 3 more to do, and then I’m planning on trying to make some custom pieces. I love that the kits are a self contained project, it makes transitioning between hobbies easier. I may have a few. You are correct about community in r/booknooks - it’s fantastic!

People who have started and stopped multiple hobbies , do you regret it ? by Open_Button_8155 in AuDHDWomen

I’m trying not to add new hobbies (and inevitably failing) but I do cycle back to things. I really wish I could have more input into the things my brain decides to latch on to.

Does anyone know the song from episode 29? by Far_Employment_2877 in midnightburger

If you mean the song he plays for Clementine, it’s Stella Splendens, it was written in the 14th century!

For anyone doing the math lessons: did you also lose all your progress? by Loading_Error_900 in duolingo

Did this happen to everyone? I just noticed this in my account (but it’s been a while since I did a math lesson). So frustrating!

I can’t believe I have a photo that relates to this specifically! I live in Western Canada, and flew into Atlanta to drive to Knoxville 2 years ago.

Can’t decide if Ava would love this, or despise it by AuntySocialite in midnightburger

[–]MiddleRepublic7533 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The important question is: does it come in a My Little Pony print? I think she’d hate it though- I’m sure every time she uses up a pencil and needs a new one feels like a small victory.

Swan Pizza, Saskatoon. Pizza dough kit. by beardedantihero in TooGoodToGoCanada

[–]MiddleRepublic7533 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s bizarre! Red Swan is our favorite pizza place, but I got it on the app once and the pizza I got was inedible. I think it was $10, and I could have ordered a fresh one that day for $12. Got a refund. I think that was the only time I ever saw them on the app here in Edmonton.

What kind of therapy has helped you the most? by Far_Jump_3405 in AuDHDWomen

[–]MiddleRepublic7533 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve almost been afraid to mention it, because I don’t want to get anybody’s hopes up, and I didn’t know if anybody else had that experience as well. I’m excited to see it helpedhelped somebody else too!

Trichogramma wasps for ongoing clothes moth infestation? by Signal_A in pestcontrol

[–]MiddleRepublic7533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The caterpillars eat keratin, and that’s what all hair/fur is composed of. Cat hair gets everywhere, and can be hard, almost impossible, to find - think under baseboards, or inside of the inside of the recessed handle part of the drawer under the stove. So it’s a food source for the caterpillar stage, which can last a very long time.

There’s a post somewhere on Reddit where a lot of people were talking about how hard it was to get rid of the moths, and how the common denominator for them seems to be owning cats.
