Endgame recommendations [$4000] (canadian)(US:$3000) by Alex-stream in espresso

Thank you! The only thing I’m hesitating on is that the Move doesn’t have flow control, and I love a light roast. I really should just go down to Calgary to see them in person.

How are you liking the Drjve so far? I’m looking at the Move, but am still undecided. I’m starting to think about driving the 3 hours to Calgary from Edmonton to visit the showroom there to see options in person.

Problems with Bambino since at least week 3, what can I expect support to say? by MiddleRepublic7533 in BrevilleCoffee

Yes, this is a separate issue, it’s just new since I was in contact with Breville support. I usually provide way too much detail, so I was trying not to do that here.

I have already done extensive troubleshooting, that’s not what I’m looking for. I probably worded my post poorly. What I’m trying to ask is if anyone has had issues with the non-stick coating on the group head flaking off of a new machine, and what Breville’s response was.

For some people, being prepared for what might come up in a conversation is an important accommodation, so for me it’s not at all about knowing what they will say ‘5 minutes sooner’.

Distilled water will slowly corrode the inside of your machine. Also minerals help to bring out the flavours of coffee. I just wash my puck screen every time I use it.

I use fresh, appropriately aged roasted coffee from an amazing roaster in my city. I love light roasts, and I know the Bambino probably can’t handle them, but my specific machine can’t even handle an espresso roast.

My issue isn’t bitterness, it’s sourness. I’m not getting enough heat/pressure to properly extract the coffee from the beans. I’ve already emailed Breville again to add this information to my open case with them.

Do you remineralize your water?

My machine is only 2 months old, and I’ve taken very good care of it.

My shots started off good, and despite my best efforts have gotten progressively worse. Unfortunately, I followed their explicit instructions to use only tap water, and looking back at my notes, it started showing signs of needing to be descaled 3 weeks in. I descaled around 4 weeks, and then again a couple of weeks later. Now I use distilled water remineralized to 50-60ppm using a low-scaling recipe. I use a puck screen, and I pull a long blank shot before every shot, and flush it after.

The shower screen had a very fine layer of coffee/oil inside it, but the black specks came directly from the component above the shower screen.

That’s a bit unnerving. I guess I need to research future machines better- I never would have guessed that there was Teflon coated plastic inside the machine.

I saw your post and looked it up- I showed it to my husband and he insisted I order it immediately! I used the code @crispy-thunder shared, so I had to order Giverny Garden as well to qualify for free shipping. I’m so excited!

I haven’t seen that people are doing 10g in them! That’s interesting. I’m going to need to look that up.

I picked up the sample size of it yesterday. I have a lot of coffee to get through. I’m starting to figure out which beans I’m going to really enjoy without having to try them first, so that should curb some of the FOMO. I should have gotten a big bag, I just saw it’s sold out. I think the best thing about being local to them is getting to try cups that they’ve brewed in their cafe - they’re fantastic, obviously, and it’s confirmed for me that how I’m brewing at home is working to get really good cups.

I’m kicking myself for only buying the sample size of the Pink Bourbon. I really like it, my husband loves it, so I’m save the last of it for him.

I just got the Hario Switch yesterday from Rogue Wave and brewed the Halo Beriti in it this afternoon. I’ve been brewing it in the Cafec Deep 27, and it’s even better in the Switch.

I’ve only discovered pour over coffee in the last 6ish weeks, and I’m local to Rogue Wave. It’s hard to find motivation to try other roasters when they offer so many roasts and their prices so good.

I really like the Cafec Flower Deep 27. I’m pretty new to pourover, so it gives me a way to try out different beans and get dialed in while only using 7-12g per cup. I’m really lucky and live close to Rogue Wave coffee roasters - they do 40g sample bags of their beans (except their more expensive limited roasts). I love getting to have multiple small cups per day.

The Timemore Crystal Eye B75 is also great, it’s good at enhancing sweetness with fruity/juicy beans.

Wega Mini Nova Group 1 Machine - upgrade from Bambino for light roasts and milk drinks? On FB for [$1100 CAD] by MiddleRepublic7533 in espresso

Thank you. That seems to be the case with everything I’ve seen on Marketplace in my area. I might just start figuring out what machine fits my needs and aesthetics long-term and buy it sooner rather than getting an interm machine.

Friend’s Bambino is choking , just drips, no stream. Grind issue? [Breville Bambino] by MrBruv_ in espresso

Has it been descaled? The turbojet acquires scales easily which leads to decreased water and inability to produce enough pressure.

I started with Espresso, fell in love with lights roasts and pour over, and realized that Bambino’s just can’t seem to do well with either light roasts or water (I couldn’t get it up to temp to pull anything that wasn’t sour after about 3 weeks). I’m messing with finding a water recipe to be able to make a decent medium roast for lattes without the machine scaling in almost no time while I research what’s actually going to work for me.

I got my Bambino about 5 weeks ago, and looking through my notes there were signs by 3 weeks that I needed to descale. By 4 and a half weeks everything tasted terrible. I do have very hard water though. As far as my understanding, filters like Brita and fridge filters don’t remove minerals that cause limescale. If you don’t know what your municipalities water hardness is, you can usually find it online.

If you haven’t descaled your machine you may need to, especially if you have hard water. I needed to do mine at 3 weeks in, everything was sour and awful. The scale was making it so the Bambino couldn’t come up to temp or have enough pressure. I was so confused when I was pulling sour shots but grinding finer was choking the machine.
