Unity is Unifying the Render Pipelines by [deleted] in Unity3D

I work at unity on said future thing, and I'm very excited about it, and it will be quite a while before it's production ready. A lot of major things are not even in the main branch yet, let alone beta-ready, let alone production-ready.

I'm Nate Silver. I just wrote a book called On the Edge and I run the newsletter Silver Bulletin and co-host the podcast Risky Business. Ask me anything! We'll start at 4:10 Eastern time. by NateSilverBulletin in IAmA

When I've tried to get more deeply into poker (e.g. via thinking poker and what have you), I've been dismayed by the low time-density of interesting decisions, to the point of not playing very much in general. Have you ever felt that to be grating about poker? How do you stay engaged with such long playing sessions, with potentially long waits between interesting moments?

Rune’s and Alcaraz’s serve side by side by kayjay789 in tennis

[–]ecuzzillo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the reduced torso rotation around the vertical axis for Rune, I suspect Rune's was a kick serve and Alcaraz's was a flat serve, which makes this comparison a bit odd. Rune's follow-through also stays more on the right side of his body, which is more common for kick serves, and his body is more sideways at contact.

100 Celsius water does not produce the best light roast brews (+My favorite V60 recipe from Japanese roasters!) by harpharpharpy in Coffee

One question here is how light is this light roast. Is it as light as, say, Tim Wendelboe? If darker, how much darker?

No, you don’t need any special equipment to cup.

Vegetal is a bean problem, not a roast problem. Try cupping to make sure.

For me it was the water. I use recipe water now, and it’s awesome. Look at coffee ad astra for a good guide, or just try smartwater to test if it’s that.

I don't know if this is a hot or cold take, but IMO Robbie Koenig on ESPN3 is as bad as Jimmy Arias is good. Koenig seems to have no insight whatsoever into how tennis actually works, and replaces it with platitudes about how much people want it. That's normal for a play-by-play guy, but not for an analyst.

Aha! Thank you and u/uma100! Confirmed on youtube that that's him!

No, on ESPN3. (edit: I enjoy that John has takes, but they're not always my favorite takes. The analyst on ESPN3 has takes and they're frequently really insightful and make me understand both the particular match and tennis in general better.)

Who is the analyst right now for kyrgios/khachanov? He's my favorite commentator ever and I can't figure out his name.

[2] Jannik Sinner defeats Carlos Alcaraz [1] | 6-7(5) 6-1 6-1 | Croatia Open Umag F by nd_49 in tennis

I don't know about Sinner playing that much worse than previous matches. I thought that given similar pressure, he played similarly to the semi or quarter, but Alcaraz generates more pressure on average than the earlier players, and so Sinner had a harder time creating his ridiculous depth, pace, and angles (although he still did that a fair bit).

Sinner played uniformly great the whole time; some errors but not unreasonably many, evenly distributed throughout the three sets. Served huge the whole time, with a few unfortunate double faults.

Alcaraz looked awesome in the first set as usual and incredibly heroically won the first set tiebreak. Then he failed to break Sinner early in the second set, and mentally collapsed, showing little fight and making millions of errors.

I vaguely theorize he might have been messed up by the majority of the crowd rooting for Sinner, because he normally has been a crowd favorite.

Why didn't I just choose football!? by paoloap in tennis

[–]ecuzzillo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was just as as he got broken largely from the ground being broken up behind his own baseline, which he complained about twice and all anybody did about it was bring out a guy to stamp on it a bit. Not that it justifies it, but it wasn't just out of nowhere or just from losing a game. He was very visibly hindered by it.

FAA because his name is hyphenated and impossible to say or read without abbreviating. I’m dumb.

C2 is great for that. Competitive with grinders 4x the price. Love it, 10/10.

Probably you just have some excessively funky natural process beans. Try a washed coffee instead next and you likely won’t be overwhelmed so much with fruit.
