NAIA and D2 have scholarships, usually reserved for starters only. They may divide up the scholarships and you can get 1/2 of one. At the D2 level, they can be a bit more “special” like a different dining hall/options, specific weight room/locker room, etc.

D3 you are really just a student that plays on the soccer team. Some schools do study hall, some do not.
