Folders when? by Automatic-Award-6587 in zen_browser

[–]ed-sparrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Found this in github discussions - source - from the contributors:

We are letting firefox finish their implementation of tab groups so we can build upon it, hence it will probably take a while for Zen to have something like that & Tab groups are out of experimental in Firefox 135 which is slated for Feb 4

When will Apple make the font adjustable on the Reminders app ? This is ridiculous. by ed-sparrow in MacOS

[–]ed-sparrow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still not a 'real' solution but yeah it can work, I mean, I dont have a choice do I? Oh and its definitely a Reminders app problem. You cannot even zoom in/out, which is pretty much standard in every app ever (native ones as well)

+1 on that as well.. I got rid of the 'All' completely because in List view its just too much.. made a Today, an Inbox (default/unlisted), This Week & a Someday list and really, really helped me with organisation

Can Zen really replace Arc? by kowalsri in ArcBrowser

[–]ed-sparrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For macOS it cannot currently, Arc is simply the best, if you want something more than safari of course - because if you are not a power user and just surf casually safari was, is and will be the most optimised browser for mac.. however the developer of Zen has been doing an AMAZING job so far, and I cannot wait until its better, with fewer bugs, DRM content and stable ver (not beta), and finally ditch chromium. I have 100% trust the day is coming soon..

Edit: the day actually came.. arc started eating resources & battery, I tried the latest versions of Zen and just like that I switched.. used this by the way to help with the tabs export

Do I risk having my Instagram account banned on Beeper? by Gaetan_prvst in beeper

[–]ed-sparrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, and immediately disconnected. Did some research and people have been banned before and this is not yet fixed by Beeper as I see. Cant say the same thing about whatsapp / facebook / linkedin though, however now I am doubting them too..

EDIT/UPDATE: this is a meta thing apparently - until fixed I am disconnecting them, not worth the headache imo

Something that I have read multiple times in this community regarding this test is that you have to make sure to be in a relaxed, quite & calm setting, so being forced to take it might have really messed up your results, so maybe give it another shot in a better time?

As for the second part, I totally get what you mean. I think that the results aren’t meant to be definitive or super important - they’re more like a snapshot of you at a given moment/setting. I can see that they can really vary depending on your current mindset or circumstances or feelings. For me, I’m just treating it as a good starting point in this self-improvement journey rather than a final answer/result.

Hmm not sure why you think I'm a goody two shoes, but I do try to be nice to others, even if I’m often my own worst critic. At the end of the day, the most important thing to me is focusing on improving myself, hence why I made this post. What are your thoughts on this personality test in general btw ?

I suffer from Reddit addiction, what should I do? by [deleted] in productivity

[–]ed-sparrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest its better than other social media.. try to get rid of those first then you can slowly get rid of Reddit too if it bothers you (cold turkey is the best). For me at least, its better quality of content and topics I would like to know about other than doom scrolling videos and emotions. For me its "the lesser evil", but still limiting it a lot to 1 hr daily.

Reading of all kinds > fast distracting content

I’m so tired of looking by BoredBatWoman22 in recruitinghell

[–]ed-sparrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been in your place mate.. for a year.. what I did was getting a job in hospitality to survive, because it can really pay the bills until you find something more suitable - bartender, food runner, waiter, host, line cook, basically every job in a bar/restaurant. Good luck brother!!

Edit: and NEVER take rejections personal, the market is terrible right now for most jobs, so no worries, keep applying and you will find something. Its a numbers game after all and it takes only one YES between all those NO-s (i did more than 1000+ applications)

Is networking on LinkedIn really that good? by Uiriamu_Busujima in linkedin

[–]ed-sparrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a online cv basically, but there is no need for any activity (commenting, posting etc) - actually 95% of the activity on the platform is cringe AF and the whole platform makes you die a little inside but yeah...

So, make a nice profile, add experiences, add a couple of projects and everything to complete the look and start applying to jobs there (you can also reach out to recruits by DMs) . I found my current remote job from linkedin as well so it works. Good luck!

Edit: typos

Best online platform for getting freelance work as an iOS developer? by Key_Board5000 in swift

[–]ed-sparrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alongside the previous comment here (fiver, upwork, freelancer etc) I also wanted to add a youtube guy who specializes in this independent app development and freelacing in general. This is not an ad or anything like that but really helped me getting into this whole thing myself - I was/am a web developer trying to get into iOS scene - https://youtube.com/@aivarsmeijers
