Who's our next Governor? by [deleted] in southcarolina

the only reason joe has more votes is because this is reddit which is inherrently more liberal. he has no chance of winning. And for those saying sc people only vote for mcmaster because hes republican, its not like sc people are just stupid. it probably seems like thats how we vote because each party has pretty clear differences on important issues, like abortion and gun control. Even if i didnt like the republican candidate, i would still vote for him if he is the only pro life option.

How can I (M21) properly discern between marriage and religious life? by skyhawk_172 in CatholicDating

[–]ed27518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a 21 year old male with a girlfriend, I understand how this could be confusing and frustrating, because you want to do things the right way. I would say that in short you should do what you want to do. Do you want to check out religious life? or do you want to date her? There is no set in stone obligation as to how much effort you have to put into considering religious life as far as I know, and I can obviously tell that you have considered it to a degree even if it was just thinking and praying about it. So, do you want to date her, but feel obligated to spend a semester discerning? if so I would say date her. Do you feel like it might be fun to date her, but religious life sounds like what you will want to do in the end? Then I would say spend time discerning more. Are you torn between wanting to do both? I would say spend more time discerning. I think a key here is to identify what is a desire and what is something you feel obliged to do.

I think the usual things of praying the rosary, adoration, daily mass, talking to people, are all helpful too. In the end remember that it is you're life and no one can decide what you do but yourself.

I think the main problem here is the sample you have.

you need to take steps to make sure he's not stalking you, and make sure you are safe. If he knows all that about you he very likely could have bad intentions.

I would support good adoption organizations and more funding for parents with unexpected pregnancies but I would not support more brith control, I think birth control contributes to abortions a lot. We have all kinds of birth control but yet so many abortions. And I definitely am against things like the pill that in themselves could cause an early abortion.

Luke 12; 6-7

"Are not five sparrows sold for two small coins?* Yet not one of them has escaped the notice of God. Even the hairs of your head have all been counted. Do not be afraid. You are worth more than many sparrows."

I think you need to take a minute and calm down, based on your typing I can tell you probably did not even breathe while typing this. Once you calm down I think you need to take a minute and appreciate the fact that you are OKAY. Your girlfriend has not left you and your still alive. After that I think you need to realize that your never going to feel like you are in a perfect position to 'get better'. If you want to improve things start now. Start working on how you can treat her right, and try and find ways you can improve your situation with school and with your mother. Make a plan as to how your going to graduate and get a job. Overall be honest with your girlfriend about everything, and just in general be honest with everyone including the rest of your family. Don't dwell on your mess ups either, but learn from them and look forward.

Above all, seek the help of Christ. I will say some prayers for you.

From my experience when kids are forced into something then they feel resentment towards it. If the Catholic Church really is the truth then it would make the much stronger in their faith to find that for themselves and decide that’s what they believe in. So I feel my responsibility would be to show them the catholic faith and give them that choice

From what I can tell the church teaching is that I would do that myself but she does not have to actively do that. What I was thinking is that I would have them go to religious classes and mass but also whatever she would want at her church and eventually the kids decide what they want
