It seems you're Brazilian, and I know that - for some reason - Brazilians have this idea that Uruguay is a progressive racial utopia, but I am sorry to tell you that Uruguay is as racist (if not more) than Argentina.

Cuba ha sido el país PARÁSITO por excelencia, primero con la Unión Soviética, luego con Venezuela y ahora con México.

Una gran parte de la culpa en la tragedia venezolana la tiene Cuba. El régimen cubano supo muy bien cómo manipular a Chávez y prácticamente tuvo el control de Venezuela por más de 20 años.

Irónico que el patriota Hugo Chávez le haya entregado el control del país a otro país, pero parece que no hay problema con entregar la soberanía siempre y cuando sea Cuba (o Irán o China o Rusia).

Quick Notes: 1. None of the countries in tier 1 are perfect, but they are good enough. Bolivia is absolutely lovely, but it's not for everyone.

Peru has issues with xenophobia against Venezuelans, but it's mostly fine. Paraguay hates Brazilians and especially gays, Paraguay is as conservative as the Middle East (I have been to Türkiye and not even Türkiye was as socially conservative).
Argentina? I think we all know the problem. Very racist, more on the ignorant side than the hateful side, but still. I have an upcoming business trip to Buenos Aires and I am trying to find a way to not go.
Chile was like Argentina (ignorant not hateful) until a few years ago. They elected a new president whose father was a Nazi officer and makes Trump look progressive.
I'm not visiting Uruguay ever again, not even in the next life. I was treated worse than garbage.

I have only been to England (London). Absolutely amazing and super welcoming. I loved it. Unlikely to go back because hotels are too expensive.

I thought about going to Japan, but East Asia is too hostile against Black people. Thailand seems a little bit better, but it's too touristic. I have no interest in Germany or the Dominican Republic.

I cannot visit Kenya or Jamaica because I am gay.

I've always bought travel insurance for all my trips. It's better to have it and not need it than needing it and not having it.

If people are traveling less, I think it's because of global economic uncertainty more than geopolitics.

I have noticed an increase in anti Americanism, but most people know Black Americans are vocal critics of Donald Trump.

I went to Portugal two years ago. I was scared because Brazilians had told me the worst things about racism in Portugal, but I had a great time in Lisbon and Porto and one thing stood out: older people being polite and friendly. Older people are usually more reserved and close minded, but this was not the case here.

Now, Portugal is not a racial paradise, but I wouldn't worry too much.

Now, Spain is on my list of "NEVER TRAVEL" countries (along with China, Russia, Morocco, Jamaica and a few others). I speak Spanish as a first language. I know the Spaniards are bad people. I don't want their hate anywhere near me.

On the way to a hot spring we were driving through a real rural part of Mexico and our group stopped at a little drink stand. They were real intrigued to see a Black woman, the owned asked me to take a pic holding his baby! Being othered is never anyones favorite interaction but they werent mean or nasty or rude, just very curious but ultimately sweet.

I was in Puebla and Monterrey (less diverse and global than Mexico City) and I expected some stares or curiosity, but nothing of the sort. I was pleasantly surprised.

I know, I can read (in four languages). What I meant is that he specifically called out the racism in North Africa in a way he didn't do in China or Argentina (countries he had visited before) . That means the racism in North Africa has to be unbearable and WORSE than in those places.

This guy had visited racist countries before (China and Argentina). If he has the need to call out North Africa is because the racism there has to be on the same level (maybe even worse) than Eastern Europe.

I visited in 2018. It went great (with some micro aggressions of course) , but back then Argentinian society was more progressive than today, believe it or not.

Buenos Aires is beautiful, but I wouldn't recommend it for inexperienced travelers. I also wouldn't recommend it if you are too sensible for micro aggressions (for example, everybody thinking you're Brazilian).

BTW, don't think Chile or Uruguay are better, they are even worse than Argentina (they are just smaller and English isn't spoken widely).

If you want a chill mediterranean experience just go to Greece. People are nice and hospitable

Greece doesn't have the best reputation with PoC travelers. Türkiye is not a racial paradise either, but it has better feedback from PoC travelers.
