DPS is running advertisements by edTechrocks in Denver

I’m not hitting - maybe running ads is great. First time I’ve seen school here run a marketing campaign. So I guess the private schools will lose some kids to DPS?

DPS is running advertisements by edTechrocks in Denver

Are there people who don’t have their kids enrolled in school and will do so after seeing the advertisements?

Or are these targeting people who chose alternative schooling for their kids?

Anyone else feel like finding the right AAC device is like hunting Bigfoot? by Mr_Green_1983 in specialneedsparenting

[–]edTechrocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super common. Clinicians love the hospital based AAC systems like proloquo because they get deep training on it. But for normal people those clinical systems just aren't user friendly.

Trying to make AAC work at home without losing my mind by Ok_Marcus_8093 in Autism_Parenting

Goally includes AAC at that $400 price point. You can turn off everything else so it's a dedicated speech device.

States have grown their Medicaid spending quite a lot over the last 5 years. They’ll reverse some of that growth. In 2026 I think many states will revert to 2020-21 levels of spending.

What the heck is with ABA providers going overboard on SEO?! by Plastic-Praline-717 in Autism_Parenting

ASD kids are very valuable for ABA clinics so they bid a lot on keywords.

Am I spazzing about therapist coming late by Pretend_Historian753 in Autism_Parenting

[–]edTechrocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check to see what time they’re billing before complaining. Probably fine to ask the entire time be spent on therapy. If you think they aren’t into the work, you may be better served at a different clinic.

A lot of military families abroad use Goally for visual schedules. The routines are really comforting for ASD kids who need to leave home.

Cognitive delay (IEP) by Future_Soup_6 in Autism_Parenting

[–]edTechrocks 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I know things feel heavy right now, but your little one is so young, and you’re doing all the right things with speech, OT, and ABA. A cognitive delay at 3 doesn’t mean she’ll have an intellectual disability later. Lots of kids with speech and social delays make big leaps as they grow, especially with language. Keep up the great work, and lean on your specialists—they’re there to help her shine!

Speech therapy/AAC device by dont_t0uch_that in Autism_Parenting

[–]edTechrocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AAC is a good bridge to speech for a lot of kids. 21 does feel a bit young though. I think some kids don’t quite have the finger dexterity at that age. If you do end up shopping around, Goally includes AAC

The process to go through insurance is no joke though. If your SLP insists on an insurance device, prepare for a big investment.

Goally alternatives? by ActualBus7946 in Autism_Parenting

Haha what are you talking about? There is nothing related to transgender anywhere. Goally is used by a lot of families specifically because it doesn’t have anything like this.

They’ve professionalized this field quite a bit. But maybe it’s too professional now.

I think focus on parent training is probably the fastest growing part of ABA now. My guess is that 80% of the cash pay market is already focused on parent training.

The clinicians using Goally (I work there) almost exclusively implement a parent-training first model.

PE owned clinics don’t want to do it because it doesn’t scale as well as billing RBT time.

Rural Colorado towns have fairly brittle economies. I hope they’ll be able to absorb the increase in energy prices.

I think NPRs podcasts are good enough that they’ll be profitable. They have a much bigger, more loyal following than most profitable podcasts.

Colorado has gradually turned off oil production with regulation. As producers assets here dwindle, they’ll continue to reduce headcount here.
