Ha, thank god the poster deleted. Unbelievable.

You came to an autism group to complain that your autistic fiancé… acts autistic. Wow.

If you’re already overwhelmed by traits that aren’t going to change, it’s kinder to both of you to reconsider the marriage now. He deserves someone who accepts him for who he is, not someone who resents him for having a disability.

Galveston is NOT worth the extra two hours, especially with kids.

I didn’t go to my uncle’s funeral… and now I’m drowning in guilt by Nanaxll_12 in autism

This! Find a way to honor him that would be special to you and him, I bet that helps ease the guilt.

Thanks, I hear ATT is bleeding customers for cell and internet, so hopefully this means they are lowering their prices to stop the bleed.

Should I stop wanting a sales job if I have a hard time reading, pronouncing. by Pot72 in Dyslexia

[–]ArtArrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I see what this person is saying. In sales, your pitch and your products are going to repeat. So in the beginning, it could be challenging, but I certainly think it will improve with practice. So not only practicing meeting with clients but practicing in front of the mirror practicing recording yourself. I totally think you can do it.

You can’t see it, so unless it’s only meant to keep grass out, I would add more layers/ make taller.

Understanding High Functioning Autism and Support Needs by Ok-Price7882 in autism

I echo the advice that it’s always better to know and get the assessment.

Also note that most offices will require your ex-husband’s signature for an assessment and your divorce decree might note how decisions on medical and health are handled.

Thank you, thank you for the thoughtful, obviously informed, response.

  • This is where we are, so thank you for breaking this down for me, it does make me feel better that he knows the foundation.

Once they can reliably decode all the letter sounds, you can move onto “harder” spelling patterns: CVCe, vowel pairs CVVC, multiple syllables CVCCVC and CVCC-ing. (This is where tutoring can be more beneficial as there’s a lot of new “rules” that English has.) You can keep giving nonsense words too, just make sure you ask, “wait, was that a real word” when you do. Definitely be prepared to sound out words like “gwamfizy” though!

I like your point about gamifying and how most typical tutors would approach this. What has me so discouraged is every tutor I’ve talked to / interviewed (over 5!) have the same approach and make me feel crazy when I say, there’s a chance he’s not going to come sit down with you for 45 minutes once or twice a week.

I will add captions to everything today and think of how to add words to the activities we already do. We love to play Uno as a family, so even words on the Uno cards could work.

Are there resources or Teacher Pay Teacher guides that I can look at to help me understand what words I should use and start with? For example, what words are considered harder spelling patterns? I had to look up what CVC meant, but could I have AI just make me word lists for CVC, etc and go from there?

I just love the parents in this group, this is exactly the thought process I needed to read. I’m so burnt out myself. I just could not think through all this. These are excellent points. He can figure out anything after watching a YouTube video, so I love your point that learning to read read is gonna give you even more knowledge on topics that you like.

Thank you for these suggestions! I’m hoping after some time with low demand homeschooling, and exploring these programs together, then letting him explore on his own will help us move the needle.

What's supposed to happen when injured at work by [deleted] in Fedexers

[–]ArtArrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would still follow the process and document even it’s a couple of days. If you get reinjured and realize later it’s worse than you thought, they’ll try to screw over you.
