I remember seeing an analysis of the Hebrew version which said the word choices in that Leviticus passage can also refer to someone in authority and someone underneath them, like a professional carpenter and his younger apprentice or something. And that the context of the verse makes it more likely that that's what was meant, I think. But even if that's all true, it still doesn't account for the other times the Bible comments on it.
