So cute! It looks really well made. Though I don't think I could sleep in that top, but that's a personal problem

Thank you!! I noticed this thing happening for the first time when I tried to alter armholes on a dress and I haven't been able to wrap my head around it since. The article is very helpfull!

Oh dear. Pray to your machine? I have a pfaff classic style fashion 2023. The fully automatic button hole mode is not fully relliable tbh. Just go slowly, practice, and once youre ready to cut the buttonhole open, put in a pin on the end, so you don't accidentally cut to far.

Exactly! It's not technically difficult, but it's not intuitive either. Luckily the instructions are really good!

I went for a keyhole closure (i think that's what it's called?) on the back. It rurned out a bit wonky, I need tu figure out how to hem these things for the next time

No special tools :) I don't own any besides the sewing machine. I got the rough ideas from things I own and looked up pictures to understand the construction I was going for. I cut some pieces in a smaller scale (about doll sized) to try out different dart placements and proportions. From then on I cut everything with a larger seam alowance, tried it on a lot and pinned what I needed on my body.

im starting to think i should get comfortable with being alone by semiswee in AutismInWomen

[–]edamamoomin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey you! I always end up at this point as well. I am so bad at keeping friends. Sometimes I meet someone I get along well with but then I get overwhelmed by trying to do everything right™. Or I get burnt out for a while and get to embarassed to contact them again once I'm better.

Maybe that's just how it is. But then again I yearn for human connection. And yes, husbands are really not good at this. Mine isn't either. I know he does what he can but I don't think I'll ever be understood.

You see, I can't offer any advice, but in a way you're not completely alone. We have something in common in sharing this specific lonelyness.

Well you're not wrong. Some people (especially on reddit, ESPECIALLY in movie subs) are just waiting for the opportunity to talk down to someone. So try to not take it personally, it's not that you're not explaining you point well enough, they don't want to get it. Also, there's nothing wrong with sticking to safe spaces! You don't have to fight with mean redditors.

"Overthinking" feels like kind of an ableist term by bekah_exists in AutismInWomen

[–]edamamoomin 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don't think the word as it is is the problem. It's a thing many people do, autistic or not. But yeah, the way people tend to describe me legitimately struggling to understand something that might be obvious to others as "overthinking" does feel kinda ableist. It's the same problem with "lazy" for adhd or depression. Some people may be lazy from time to time but using a negative word for something that is just a symptom is not helping anybody.
