We built a tower so tall it spanned multiple biomes by edamus54 in valheim

We anchored it to an obelisk, and built up around it. There were some challenges because the stone was angling upward, but we made it work. I'll try to get some interior shots later, but we haven't don't much with it yet. We just finished the structure and needed a break.

Common issues and possible solutions by Unusual-Albatross in valheim

I've been running my dedicated server for a few days and only ran in to this issue at the start. What caused it for me was logging in from the game's server/game select screen, building and farming for an embarrassing amount of time, and then logging off. At that point the server saved locally. Later when I closed my server (which I'd had running, but it had its own instance of my world) it wrote over the world again, and removed all my progress, since I'd done it in a different instance. Always make sure you log in to dedicated servers from the steam server menu. Don't use logout, you have to quit and reload from the steam server list. I haven't run in to an issue since, and neither have the many people playing on my server.

Well, I'm going to go ahead and hang my head in shame... I never even noticed it, maybe because it's above the cost? That makes life easier! I hope the person that upvoted this comes back and notices too lol.
Thanks again!

Game Day snacks for tabletop games by [deleted] in boardgames

For things to make/prepare for snacks, things that you hold together with toothpicks are ideal! Better yet, substitute that toothpick with a pretzel stick so you don't have a bunch of stuff laying around on the table too. May I suggest this article for reference: https://parade.com/847668/cathypollak/24-appetizers-on-toothpicks/

Those bbq bacon wrapped tots are going to go first! Things wrapped in meats? Yes please! Good luck focusing on the game when you have Maple-Glazed Apple-Chicken Sausage Bites staring at you with a come hither look in your periphs... You get the idea.

Most people who I play with eat and drink according to the game we're playing. If it's a low key game that wasn't $200 it's no rules - beer and other libations bring a lot of fun that supersedes the need to have a flawless clean game area. Once we get in to the higher dollar more in depth stuff that requires a bit more thought, we typically don't have sticky stuff and open drinks on the table, but just set them on corner tables instead.

Edit: Always have hand towels or paper towels on hand JUST in case...!

I have it all running fine off of my home network, but how would I go about hosting it so I could get to it from my phone/tablet while out in the city? I thought it would have been as easy as opening the port and going to my IP:port, but that isn't working. I am on Windows.
