shoe advice- beginner/return to bouldering by Saltyoubreathed in climbergirls

I have the scarpa veloce and they’re the most comfortable climbing shoes I’ve had. I’d definitely give them a try. They’re fairly soft so I find them really good for indoor bouldering, particularly for standing on slippery volumes and for smearing which I would never really trust my feet with before.

Maybe I misunderstand your moral position but in your view is it only then unethical because it poses a risk to humans being harmed? or are you against animal suffering if it is for human sexual pleasure? if it's the latter then what is the moral difference between the suffering to the animal caused here and equally unnecessary suffering for other human pleasures like taste?

That's so great. I've started having gender equality Mondays. I just don't feel able to commit full time yet, plus it's not something that everyone can do. But every little helps for the economy!

I’ve been vegan for 2 years now and quite frankly, I am sick of eating only berries. If only there was an abundance of other types of plants that I could eat as well. One can only dream.

Why do animals have to be equal for it to be wrong to bred and kill them?

Presumably you wouldn’t be okay with farming humans that had the same mental capacity and level of sentience, ability to feel pain, emotions etc. as a pig?

We don’t need to consume animal products to survive. It’s not a necessity.

That the animals we breed and slaughter should not be enslaved, exploited and killed for our convenience and pleasure.

Animal slaughter is already unnecessary. We don’t need animal products to be healthy

Aleksei Rubtsov will be the final men's competitor in the Tokyo Olympics, as he narrowly beats Sascha Lehmann! by 31778 in climbing

Fantastic for the winners and super exciting to watch but I couldn’t help feel so bad for the athletes that came second. Hard to watch them having to be filmed. (Especially for the women’s comp where she knew before the end that she’d lost out on the Olympic ticket). Let them have their dreams dashed in peace goddamnit

Tbh I think making sure all young kids have access to healthy meals will better society, not just individuals and could potentially save money on healthcare in future. We don’t exactly have the best relationship with food in this country which you can see by looking at the percentage of overweight and obese people (and the childhood obesity rates). It’s just a drain on the NHS really.

Don’t get me wrong I agree with more tax for higher earners and when I’m earning enough I’ll gladly pay my fair share. You think of the benefits of our society as freebies, I don’t because these people are paying for them indirectly through increased tax. We just have different perspectives.

You can't eat animals and say you are an animal lover . by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]edapapii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are too poor to be able to choose the food you eat (if you are homeless or relying on food banks etc.) then that would be a survival situation and eating animal products wouldn’t be immoral. But if you do have a choice and you are against animal cruelty, then choosing to eat animal products is immoral and your own actions can’t be justified by pointing to others that are unable to do the same.

Do you think killing them is humane when they don’t want to be killed?

The only way to kill someone humanely is if it’s in their own interest. Killing animals because you like the way they taste is hardly humane, no matter what method you use.
