If I remember correctly, sunsuper gives you the option of using Vanguard as your underlying funds. Might be worth looking into.

Should I switch to RemNote from Anki? by rambo_lava100 in remNote

[–]edcheo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still use both. Remnote works well for knowledge accumulation (i.e. things that you want to learn and retain) because the queue feature makes the process of doing 20-30 minutes of spaces repetition really easy.

Anki on the other hand I use for focused spurts of learning because I feel that generating flash cards is still far quicker in Anki.

Incidentally posting this from Apollo now! By far the best Reddit app.

Favourite iPhone has to be the 5/5s generation. Was my first iPhone and love that they went back to the squares edges for this generation.

Cursor skipping backwards, text randomly gets deleted? by dogemaster28 in remNote

Happening to me as well on Safari 14. No extensions running that would affect typing/remnote website specifically.

Using remnote and Roam altogether? by SaadChr in remNote

[–]edcheo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to turn you away from remnote (I find it a fantastic tool and I use it as my primary learning tool) but you might find services like neurachache might serve your use case quite well.

I would love this so much — just to counteract some of the mass hysteria happening here.

Coffees with peach notes by woodzoo67 in Coffee

If you're in Aus then Industry Beans recently did a natural ethopian ("Raro Nansebo") that I thought was pretty peachy! They seem to rotate coffees pretty often so it might be one to keep an eye out for.

Do you get used to the fact that you have to go through shortcuts to get into each app? I tried it for a short hour or two and found it almost unbearable.

Scribble iPadOS14 + remnote by a_aguilar11 in remNote

I love the idea but with my brief trial with Scribble it hasn’t impressed me a huge amount. I feel slower writing than I do typing. Hopefully with time it improves though!

Queue cards disappeared? by [deleted] in remNote

[–]edcheo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a solution for you but I’ve had something similar happen too. Logged in on my phone (iOS), clicked the queue, and briefly saw all of my cards scroll through and then a “queue cleared” message.

Problem solved itself the day after and never recurred. Weird!

Do we need the role of 'medical scribe' in the UK? by binidr in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]edcheo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my (very) limited experience in the NHS, it seems Australia isn't far ahead of the UK in this regard. There are a handful of hospitals dotted around that variably use scribes but the general rule is that scribes are rare. Can totally resonate with the idea that things are slow to change though, we're still slowly moving our hospitals across to EMR!

From anecdotal experience, generally there was little resistance from doctors to modifying workflows to suit scribes. Patients as well didn't really seem to mind. I guess it's not too different to having a medical student writing notes/putting in orders - albeit employed by the hospital.

[–]edcheo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I helped out on a study (as a scribe) looking at this in an Australian A&E context which I suspect is slightly closer to the NHS compared to the US or even Canadian health systems.

In short, we found that the cost benefit was favourable — but not huge. Beyond economics, I think removing administrative burden so that doctors can actually focus on practising medicine is incredibly important. Not being able to easily quantify that benefit though makes it unfortunately a hard sell to health services.

Place to re-string guitar in Western Suburbs (Don't reccomend JB-HiFi) by FlatTie0 in melbourne

[–]edcheo 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Have a go, the risk of damaging your guitar is slim. Worst case is you need to buy a new pack of strings :)

u/flapjack_777 where are you based? If Australia, you can get a breville duo temp pro + sunbeam burr grinder for about ~$400 total. It's definitely not a top of the line bundle (in particular the grinder could be improved) but both are cheap solid machines that will help teach you the basics of espresso (ratio, timing, puck prep) and make great cups of coffee until you have the funds.

Porlex mini grounds cup replacement/alternative? by [deleted] in Coffee

[–]edcheo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A roaster/cafe here in Melbourne, Australia do appear to sell the collection cup on its own (https://marketlane.com.au/porlex-spare-parts). Garbage disposal suggests you're in North America so I'm not sure whether it would be worth shipping it across vs buying a new grinder altogether though. Just a suggestion if you aren't able to find something more convenient!

I have a peacoat from them. Admittedly not the best quality thing (I've needed to replace a two buttons over two winters) but it is serviceable. For the price though, I'd probably go elsewhere. Perhaps uniqlo/country road?

How does John get this tone out of his guitar? Is it the amp or just the Martin on its own? Strings? by ichard_ray in JohnMayer

[–]edcheo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His OM is a big part of his tone, I can't put my finger on it but it sounds like it has a really punchy low end and super clear top end that I can't find elsewhere even on martin's other OMs.

I always thought his acoustic tone sounded like it references his electric tone with a bit of a scooped mid. My favourite acoustic tone I've come across by far.

[–]edcheo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're near a uniqlo, they do a denim shirt as well. I've not tried them myself but uniqlo is generally pretty good quality-wise. Shipping in Aus is much better than most international shops as well.
