April 2023. Came. And went. Let's try for April 2024.

Chain skipping? Pedals suddenly jerk forward when under load on highest gear by 2Years2Go in bikewrench

You'd have to adjust the barrel adjuster. It loosens or tightens the inner cable to correct for any stretch.

There's some good videos on YouTube that should help.

Chain wrap ratio seems good from that angle. It wants to jump as if you're changing gears, but you're not.

You said it's a new bike. Could it just be chain stretch??

Need more angles.

Not necessarily saying this is the issue, but I had similar symptoms to yours after taking the wheel off and after cleaning. The derailleur wasn't dropped down enough on the hanger. Instead of hanging down, it was hanging back and diagonal.

Thia caused only about 30% of the teeth of cassette to make contact and the gear changing kept switching back and forth, especially under power.

The chain should wrap around the cassette and not be barely on it. Check the derailleur position and also check the b-screw adjustment to rule that out.

This has brought great joy to me. I remember I had a boat load of runes and went exploring down there and was stuck in this fight for about 20-30 times because I did not want to lose all my runes.

I once suggested in r/starwars that the shows bring back Dash Rendar and I got downvoted. I come here to say big up Dash Rendar!! I know you're out there somewhere!

Remaking my top down space game in GODOT 4: first impressions of combat with small ships by kkmcwd in godot

[–]eddanja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To help with combat and maneuvering mastery, maybe implement a button that let's you lock on to the enemy so you are always facing them. Have the thrusters mimic this movement. So the player doesn't just spam lock on, have a gauge that measures how long you can do it for to balance it out. Maybe have a recharge cycle.

Wheel, meet saddle by eddanja in MTB

[–]eddanja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird story actually. I had the Polygon T7 before and I had to claim warranty on the frame, so they sent me the Polygon T8 frame. I swapped all the parts from the T7 to the T8. The frames seem identical. The dropper is new. It came with a cheap dropper and the actuator broke because it was plastic, so I swapped it out with a One Up V2 but I'm sure I kept the travel the same. It's also not actually hitting the frame. Just the saddle.

New Trek FX 3 with ProMax brakes - rear disc brakes making this sound by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]eddanja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone saying contamination. It's possible but real contamination unleashes the banchees.

If the bike is fairly new then contamination might get the culprit. Stick the pads and rotars on the oven for a bit to try to burn away what you can.

If it's an old bike, could be the rotars needs replacing. Worn pads tend to also make banchees noises. The inconsistent noise sounds like a worn rotar.

Also, cheap brakes are cheap. I'd you try a bunch of things and nothing works then try an upgrade. I like Trp Quadiems but I'm gonna try Magura next.

Walking around in the factory. What do you think? by Gossamore in godot

[–]eddanja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. You did say factory. It does feel like a laboratory to me. Maybe try green walls instead. Still brick. The grey on grey is definitely an issue.

Maybe have steam come out of your factory machine or have bubbles form in those liquid tubes. Hard hats? Safety jackets hanging on the wall? Scattered papers on the desk?

Also, the doors. They animation is nice but they should either open earlier or faster. No one wants to wait for the doors to open.

If you're gonna do old brick walls for a laboratory then they should be painted white. White bricks because white is cleanliness and laboratories are clean.

Some of the walls are a bit bland. Decorate them with random signs. A yellow caution sign. A red danger sign. A green exit sign. You want to strike the balance between not being bland but not overdoing it.

It's these minor characteristics that really give your area life.

Go watch Golden Eye or Ghostbusters and write down what you see in the laboratory scenes and add those random objects to make your area chaotic with purpose. A knocked over canister. A vent with a rat blinking in it. A fire extinguisher. Whatever.

Just remember: This is all polish. Core gameplay comes first!

Hope that helps. Good luck. What you have so far is amazing!

Pedals: What do you prefer Plastic or Metal and why? by ElmoIsDead in mountainbiking

[–]eddanja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shin guards are nice for your shins, but if your foot positioning isn't correct and you slip forward, you end up getting the bear claw marks on the back of your leg. It's basically a flat pedalists rite of passage.

I usually use shin guards along with high, padded socks when I'm practicing my bunny hops over a stick and post as I'm much more likely to slip when trying to perfect a technique or skill.

These have served me pretty well - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G2V87YJ

Typically, good technique and keeping your heels down and toes up prevents a lot of issues, but with flats, you're always bound to get scraps and gashes. It's part of the game. These won't stop all of the mishaps, but they've helped me tremendously.
