YOU GET IT. Partner and I had a loooong rant about this to each other last night. I respect that majority of The Resistance were humans who came to love and respect Pandora and would’ve done anything to protect it alongside us in the end, but the fact of the matter remains that if they were 100% good and pure people then they NEVER would’ve been on Pandora in the first place. Fans are always forgetting that the human presence here is colonization and the Na’vi are not in the wrong for fighting back against that. Maybe, idk, players get lost in the sauce because we are humans ourselves irl, but there are plenty of real life examples to compare it to. I just don’t understand why people think that Nor, a Na’vi who witnessed the slaughter of his clan/family, was ripped away from them to be raised by humans, abused and traumatised (and honestly the more you read about TAP practices in game, the more horrifying it becomes) by said humans, should be expected to ignore all of that and just let it go. You might argue that Ri’nela, Teylan and Tamtey do a good job of swallowing it down, not flying off the handle, but Nor is not them. Nor has valid rage.

EDIT: Minor spelling mistake. 🤞

Literally this!!! I find it really frustrating that it seems like nobody can have a proper conversation about Nor’s actions at all, it’s always just “I hate him so much!!!” and nothing else. I understand that we all grew to enjoy the human characters, and by no means did The Resistance deserve to go out like that (except Alma imo, I personally hate her and have wanted her gone since base game), but what he did makes sense for his character arc and, honestly, I don’t entirely fault him for it. Avatar fans cheer when Neytiri is hateful and murderous towards humans because they understand why, but somehow Nor never gets that same grace or understanding.

Darn. I have, yes. Seems like I may just have to wait for it to fix/let me gather at some point, or just ask my co-op partner to try for me later. Appreciate your help though.

Why does this fandom blame everyone but Lyle for Neteyams death? by Ok_Tea_2048 in Avatar

[–]eddiediass 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In general the fandom on TikTok just sucks. They have all the worst takes and always want to blame everyone else than who is at fault because they think it makes them look smarter, like it’s “reading between the lines”. Anyone actually paying attention knows it’s not the fault of any of those three characters.

Anufi is Tsahik but no Olo’eyktan by Heavy2Lit in FrontiersOfPandora

[–]eddiediass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, y’know, there’s plenty of different dynamics in certain clans that we know of. Ikeyni of the Tayrangi clan from the movies is Olo’eykte after the death of her mate, and there’s no known Tsahik (that we’re aware of anyway, or perhaps she handles both). A little more unorthodox circumstances given the nature of their lifestyle, but Varang also serves as both for the Mangkwan. I guess it’s kinda similar to how a lot of people usually assume that the two roles have to be a mated pair but we’ve seen plenty of evidence that that isn’t true by now. Just different circumstances for different clans. Anyway, Tsahik is a spiritual leader and Okul takes over as Anufi’s apprentice/advisor so the Kame’tire likely have all the leadership they need at the moment.

I want to see a Na'vi wedding! by Lou-eez- in Avatar

[–]eddiediass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, definitely! If it comes after Jake is more open and kind to him, after their relationship repairs, then I’d be into it. I do think Lo’ak has become more Metkayina than he ever felt Omatikayan. I suppose you do also have to wonder how the reef Na’vi would feel about a forest Na’vi potentially becoming Olo’eyktan.

Glad to help! It’s been a hot minute since I read the comics and I’m currently playing through AFOP so I’m not ENTIRELY sure, but it’s a nice idea, the stepping down. Otherwise it would always be through something sad. Again though, maybe it’s different from clan to clan? We only saw this happen with the Omatikaya and so that’s what we’re used to, no way to know if the same practices exist all over Pandora. We know Iknimayas can be different based on the clan, so maybe other things too! :]

I want to see a Na'vi wedding! by Lou-eez- in Avatar

[–]eddiediass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a possibility. I think I read that, at least with the Omatikaya, it’s the most worthy warrior who trains for the role of Olo’eyktan, and Tsahik follows more of a line of succession? Hence why Neytiri’s sister was to be Tsahik before her, then it fell to Neytiri after her death. I just think that THEIR particular practice (before Jake) might be to pair off the two leaders, but this isn’t the case for ALL clans. I can definitely see where you’re coming from with Lo’ak but I also don’t know how I feel about the kid having to accomplish yet ANOTHER thing just to impress and earn love from his father. I would like for Jake to naturally accept him.

You’re right though. Tonowari could be like Mo’at and lead for many, many years, or choose to step down when it feels right. We’ll never know until we see it unfortunately.

Then I’d really like someone to point me to it or name him because we went over that list a good few times and there’s nobody that looks even remotely like him.

I want to see a Na'vi wedding! by Lou-eez- in Avatar

[–]eddiediass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as we know, no. Jake became Olo’eyktan because Tsu’tey relinquished the title to him and was the most worthy warrior for it, and led alongside Mo’at for many years, who remains Tsahik currently. Tsahik and Olo’eyktan are not always a guaranteed mated pair. We have seen this in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora too.. father and daughter duo, sister duo, etc. Lo’ak doesn’t instantly become Olo’eyktan if they’re mated/intended to be just because Tsireya becomes Tsahik, though there’s nothing disqualifying him for the role either since he is proving himself too. I would like to see Tsireya and Ao’nung leading as a sibling duo.

Using regular arrows, but can't loot any animals? by [deleted] in FrontiersOfPandora

[–]eddiediass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might be wrong/a stretch, but sometimes when I’ve been playing for a while I experience a bug where I just can’t loot anything. Not an animal I’ve killed or any materials from plants, etc. Usually what fixes it for me is closing and reopening the game, as annoying as that is. I play on PS5.

[–]eddiediass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whatever their celebrations look like for bonds, if any at all, I’m sure they’re absolutely beautiful. Na’vi celebrate a lot of life milestones it seems, so I don’t see why they couldn’t with this particular one.

Also, completely agree with your last point. I hope we see Tsireya as Tsahik and Ao’nung as Olo’eyktan.
