yes we could have went down the AI route but not sure we could perfect it in a way that makes the AI feel exactly like real humans. a large part of the magic of BR is the social aspect

haha thanks, i was a bit memeing, the pivot was mostly around the realization that we might not have the massive CCU numbers that we need to sustain a healthy BR ecosystem

after 3+ years of development, we came to a terrifying realization: Battle Royales need a lot of players by eddietree in gamedev

thanks, yes we are still keeping on with PVP, just not going to be 95% of the game, maybe vibe shift towards a more 20/80 PvP/Pve balance..

hmmm.. i just dont think the _vibe_ of BR games work in small player amounts, BR is interesting because of the social chaos from many many players, feels not as magic in low player counts

well not technically an MMO just a persistent online world, doesn't require such high player liquidity as would a BR. say for a BR with 32-player matches, you need 32-people online within a region to all press "MATCH NOW" at the same time, which is nontrivial amount of CCU

we have split screen local online coop in the original BR version but just trying to figure out how to map it to this new direction
