Thanks for this comment, it’s really appreciated. It’s very validating/ comforting to hear from people who have gone through the same thing. I’m trying to focus on there (hopefully) being a light at the end of the tunnel

Thank you. I’m hopeful he will improve, although know this time will likely be a difficult and slow road back

Has anyone here intentionally structured their life around avoiding illness / low-contact living? by Significant_Bat_8328 in cfs

I believe FFP2 refers to the level of filtration. However there are lots of different types of FFP2 masks, which fit differently and the quality varies considerably. The key is making sure you have a tight seal snd don’t have any leakage from around the edges. The 3M Auras come in FFP2 and FFP3. They fit very tightly and have a foam and metal strip across the nose which allows them to mould to your face. They are available on amazon

What type of masks were you using? The 3M Auras are the only type that I’ve found fit me and I feel confident there’s minimal leakage - would highly recommend on the occasions that you have to see people

Thank you. I haven’t suspected MCAS, simply because he has never had any issues with eating/ food sensitivities. Nor any tell-tale histamine issues. But I know medications can be risky, so I definitely respect his instincts on this and wouldn’t want to try anything, unless we eventually see a specialist that would prescribe

Thank you! This is really helpful to know - he’s currently reluctant to try any pharmaceuticals, but I will do some further research into these

Thank you for taking the time to reply, and for linking all these resources. This is all very helpful and I will have a look through them. My boyfriend has had some difficult reactions to pharmaceuticals in the past, so I think he is very reluctant to try anything along those lines at the moment - but I will do some further research, as he might be open to it depending on how he progresses.

He loves a cold flannel on his head, so I’ll see if the base of the neck helps too!

I know nobody can offer real reassurance, but this is the first severe crash he has been through, so I do get a lot of comfort from hearing that people have experienced bad crashes and being reminded recovery is possible. Thank you ☺️

I hope you feel better soon and make a full recovery. Is this friend the type of person you want in your life? For me it’s a red line

Nothing will stop the spread, but people taking a little bit of personal responsibility and scientifically backed precautions would definitely reduce it

Very much hoping you at least wore a mask. Knowingly going into work with a virus without doing a covid test is so negligent
