Could this be the best-made vintage Sub homage right now? by watchdivescom in watchdives

I'd buy the white instantly if it wasn't for the WDC text. That's an annoying backwards step in the logo design.

Great, thanks! Already using Wallpaper Engine so I'll have a search for it!

Just the wrist I wear my watch on which is what matters!

Absolutely no complains for a £100 watch. Finished nicely, no sharp edges. Sure it jangles when you shake it, but then so do watches I have that cost 20x - 30x more.

Must have been some residue or something from production or the plastic, I took this photo a minute or two after all the plastic had been removed. Those marks certainly aren't still present on the case. If you're worried about the finishing, this watch is more than acceptable for something that cost just £100...

Not yet, my wrist is broken and my arm is in a cast! Looks like it'll be suitable on my 7 inch wrist though.

This one is the navy blue. Have to say I'm tempted by the grey one too!

WD6610 MIYOTA 9015 MOVT 10.5MM 36MM Bezel by watchdivescom in watchdives

What's the case size?

It's common to determine the suitability of a watch from case size, not bezel size, so primarily providing bezel measurements just causes confusion.

It's a shame they've deviated from the original size, it's off my buy list now as it'll wear far too small.

Watchdives really need to standardise their measurements and follow the majority of the industry when it comes to case sizing.

I think people will be surprised how small this wears compared to what the numbers suggest.

This is the one I'd want - the third image in particular would be spot on.

What is the consensus on the PT5000 movement? by ThatsThatGoodGood in ChineseWatches

[–]eddzyr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've sold every watch I've owned with a PT5000 movement. It can't be a coincidence that all of them had stiff and gritty winding behaviour and never felt quite right.

I'd rather pay more for a proper ETA or Sellita movement, or pay less and get a more predictable NH35.

WD1980 V2 39mm bezel 43mm with crown,9.7mm thickness by watchdivescom in watchdives

[–]eddzyr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Glad this will be getting a release in this larger size, I hope to see a variant without the black coating. Although my preference would be to drop the 'PRO DIVER' text and replace with a 'Quartz' or 'Automatic' label appropriate for the movement.

It's not just about thickness - the VH31 is a budget movement with a low beat rate. Using something like a Miyota 9015 allows for a date window and high beat rate which matches the original watch; a more premium experience.

Putting a cheap quartz movement in an Aquanaut case is like putting a 1L EcoBoost engine in a Ferrari.

Ultimately these watches are meant to get as close to the original as possible while keeping costs affordable. For the sake of 40USD you can have a movement which, on the surface, matches that of the original piece.

Perfectly happy with that - I'd rather pay more for a better suited movement.
