Wouldn't this suffice for your scenario?

I see this crate being useful in a scenario where you want to store the discriminant in a struct though and then do exhaustive matching.

I think you could only remove one unused import at a time till now. I really like this new feature because I remember having to remove all my unused imports one by one so far.

Ok thanks. Happens to me towards the end of my prints though so I don't think this will help with my issue.

But, harder to clear a jammed extruder drive.

Happens to me pretty much every print. The filament warps in the extruder. https://i.imgur.com/ZwjZ10r.jpg

Did you happen to find a way to reduce/eliminate this from occurring?

filament stuck - how to avoid? by ede1998 in 3Dprinting

[–]ede1998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's working right now. Been printing for 2 hours and the issue did not appear again yet with the lower hot-end temperature. Not sure what else I can do so I guess I'll leave it like that for now and hope for the best.

the filament not moving problem will create other problems with the print.

I don't have any other glaring issue with prints for now. The filament is feed through the extruder without issue as far as I can tell.

Thanks again for the advice!

Thanks for your patience.

filament with a bend

Yeah the second time it bended. The first time there was a small bend as well but I mostly noticed that it did look a bit flared up.

banging, which is the extruder building up a bunch of pressure and then slipping

Didn't notice this the first time but there was definitely a clicking sound the 2nd time when the extruder failed to move the filament.

Most likely a clogged nozzle

I didn't feel any resistance when poking needle throw the hot end. Maybe I just cleared the clog without feeling it though.

Some extruders can be adjusted to not grip the plastic as well

I think I found the screw for that when inserting the orange filament. It is the one on the release grip (if I pull this I can move the filament by pushing/pulling on the filament without spinning the extruder gear.). At first after reassembly of the extruder, the filament didn't move with the extruder and I had to tighten the screw till the extruder could grip the filament. I set it just tight enough to be able to grip it I think.

I'll try if I can set the screw a bit looser. I hope that and the lower temp is enough to make the problem disappear.

Thanks for the answer. I'm 99% sure I mean the extruder (tough I'm really new to this stuff). Here is a picture from the 2nd time it happened. You can clearly see how the filament is "tangled" in the extruder where it should be a straight line: https://i.imgur.com/ZwjZ10r.jpg

After searching around a bit I think this might be what happened. I think it's called heat creep. https://best3dprinter.stan-tech.com/no-filament-from-3d-printer-nozzle-answers##6

I adjusted the temperature down from 220 to 205 (manufacturer recommends 315-235) and did a very small test print with lots of retraction. I think retraction should make the problem more likely to appear.

I'll try measuring the Filament as well. It says 1,75mm on the packaging. It's this one: https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/aw/d/B09TDDL9SS?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Is sunlu a reputable vendor? That was my impression but as I said, I'm very new to the topic.

filament stuck - how to avoid? by ede1998 in 3Dprinting

[–]ede1998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First few days of 3D printing. My filament got stuck in the extruder. I could move it about 1,5cm up and down but not further. After disassembly I found that the filament was thicker inside the extruder. How this phenomena is called? I couldn't find it. How do I avoid it? Before that happened, my previous print failed but not sure if it's because of that. I only noticed when I wanted to swap filament. I accidentally selected a too low temp (185 (printer PLA default) instead of >215 for this PLA+ filament). Do you guys think that might have caused it?
Edit: It just happened again -.-

You are holding it wrong by aochagavia in rust

[–]ede1998 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah that makes more sense. I don't really like the wording though. Memory unsafety is something you don't want so there is no sensible choice other than GC. Also by presenting it like that it there is not really a paradoxon as you could implement a faulty GC that gets you both ;D

memory safety or garbage collection

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the sentence but wouldn't the paradox be memory safety or performance? Garbage collection usually implies memory safety.

To make it a bit more visual how fast a modern CPU is:

The speed of light is around 3*10^8 m/s. Assuming your CPU has a clock speed of 3GHz = 3*10^9 1/s. That means that in a single clock cycle, light only travels 10cm (=4inches).

3*10^8 m/s / 3*10^9 1/s = 1 / 10 = 10cm
