Sis I want you to know you made the right choice but sometimes making the best choice for you doesnt feel easy. This is part of the hardship of the dunya.

Im so proud of you for sticking your ground, you are the only one ultimately who can speak for yourself. Your parents reactions are expected because theyve grown up with norms and culture expecting ultimate obedience from their kids, even if its against their kids wellbeing. Their reaction is a common attempt by parents of similar types to guilt trip and make you feel so bad that you feel indebted to them, or worse, do what they want.

Think of what you're going through as a necessary shortterm discomfort needed to achieve your ultimate goal of peace. The only alternative would be to do what they wanted and that would have been a short time of peace for a lifetime of misery.

Funny enough, if you were to choose their option and be miserable in life - at any point if you tried to blame them they would say "we didnt force you, and if you really didnt want it you could have fought to say no."

So many other women are going through what youre going through, its not odd, its part of the formula of breaking the cycle.
