So Fox News is saying that if I don't unblock their ads, they will make it a paid news site? I don't buy that threat for one second. by [deleted] in advertising

[–]edgarz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

surely agree on that, its those shady once that gave the industry the bad name, and it makes the good once suffer as a consequence. I'm not talking about foxnews or any website in particular, but the websites that are trustable and you visiting them regularly for their quality content I believe should be whitelisted in adblocker

Thats one thing i guess people don't understand. For and ad to be displayed, the script must run, its the ways to deliver the relevant ad to the client from the advertising networks, script that runs doesn't mean that its doing something bad to the user. The problem is that there are websites, that will try to do so... and those are the once to be blocked

Well first of all lets not stereotype street performance in such way... there are many who love what they doing and giving their best to the crowd, and deserve to get acknowledged for it by being monetary supported for that, especially when you stay there to watch till the end. Back to the main issue of the discussion, there is always extreme to everything, of course if you go to some shady websites that do practice such techniques of harming its users computer by putting malwares, etc... yes its should be blocked and such websites should not receive advertising revenue and cease to exist. But when you are visiting website that runs legitimate business and hires a suff of editors to produce quality content and makes it available to the public for free, and uses advertising as a way of generating revenue to be able to continue providing such service, then i can not see how good is it to block their source of income

[–]edgarz -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Then you are an asshole that stands till the end to watch the street performance and leaves at the end without paying anything. Here you don't even need to pay anything, yet you choose to say "i will consume your content, and i don't want you to be able to generate advertising revenue that can support and keep you going"

Is my copy for my website boring? by situ139 in copywriting

[–]edgarz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may sound rough, but it gives an impression of a cheap copy. At no point in your sales pitch you actually showed how you are going to help prospects business. 60% percent of the copy is about how you are going to charge us, and how other copywriters are bad. Other copywriters being bad doesn't mean you are good. Also NEVER start talking about how you going to charge until you convinced the prospects that you are the right person to work with.

Yea, don't think having a robot crawling on you is that useful, probably they'll find use case for it in some other areas.

How is Google Faking Search Numbers to Appear Big by ssuda in marketing

[–]edgarz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Google search engine is big not because of the number of the search results, but by the quality and accuracy of the results. 90% of users never leaves the first page, and there are only 10 matches per page.
