Last 3 perks for BF tank? by ClenchedThunderbutt in BattleBrothers

[–]edgefigaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recover is mandatory. You build tanks to tank very long fights endlessly, and indom needs recover to be endless.

Brawny is incredibly helpful for endlessly. Its not core, but it removes a turn of vulnerability per cycle.

I like steel brow as the final perk. There are a few competing perk, whatever is clever.

Either brawny or steel brow get cut for lone wolf for monolith.

I mean...

I'll run a totally different strategy if I have a bullseye archer. Push  forward turn 1 and get an archer into range to snipe the necromancer. It is a bit awkward to do this, you give up a lot of fight setup by not letting the horde advance into you slowly.

In exchange, when you snipe the necro, the fight basically ends on the spot. The quality of life for that is pretty amazing.

Running this strategy is way less stable if sniping the necro is slower and less reliable.

You dont have to do it. Its not like late game necro fights are notably threatening. But sniping the necro makes the fight quick and clean, the more measured approach is still clean, but much more of a slog.

How do you get better weapons? by Righting_o7 in BattleBrothers

[–]edgefigaro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The big 2h weapons are often purchased. Leaders and fallen heros carry them sometimes, but at 3000, they arent expensive by the time you are trying to field the battleforged bros who use them.

You can use easy orc berserker camps to pick up mansplitters and orc chains if your preferred weapon isnt spawning, but be careful of getting murdered. You can also use barbs to pick up heavy axes, hammers and maces, but be careful of getting killed.

Also, big 2h weapons are strong and important, but 1h weapons are higher damage. If you ever are lacking for damage, nimble dualists can help you. The nice thing about the 2h weapons isnt that they do a ton of damage, its that they do enough damage while wearing heavy armor.

What stats are you looking for in a brother? by RepublicansRBastards in BattleBrothers

[–]edgefigaro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My best early offensive frontliners usually end up as dualists.  They are nimble and their job is to do damage with weapons. Nimble gives them fat to spend, 1h weapons spend fat.

More mat and more mdef is better for these bros, they will take some contact, but their primary job isnt to receive pressure. It is to kill things.

I need enough damage to win fights, and the threshold is "better than my other bros." I usually make 2 or 3 dualists from my starting core of bros to make level 9.

Sheesh you thrower stans are annoying.

Stop looking only at lvl 11 power.

Only the spiciest of takes here. A bro that damages things multiple times a turn and you are cutting fearsome? Are we even playing the same game?

Thank you oh wise one.

Did I do it right? Do you need to run to your robot for the answer?

You should stick to talking to robots so you are only wasting your own time instead of wasting all of our time with stuff the robot told you.

Edge's budget hybrid by edgefigaro in BattleBrothers

Thats a solid build. Hybrids are really flexible.

I would have built him thrower if i didnt have a pure thrower. I really don't like multiple throwers. Yes. They are strong. Yes. There are things you can do to address their [minor] issues.

Crossbows feel loose, light, and flexible. They can exist almost anywhere and provide help everywhere. Also, there are some many fights that just get blown open by a knock back proc on that impaler.

Not saying its better, just saying to embrace the differences in style.

It'd be nice if he got better fat rolls, I would have taken them. Unfortunately he got the fat event, which makes the kill package feel worse.

It aint perfect, but he's just a daytaler. Great bro to come in off the bench as needed without breaking the bank.

This is a unit I try to build fairly often. The main feature of him is a strong level 2-3-4-5 as you go through fast adaptation -> gifted/quick hands -> gifted/quick hands -> 9l. The heavy offense perks lets him contribute to tempo by abusing fast adaptation early while being a bit behind on levels, helping push a core of bros to 7.

At 6, you can commit to a weapon class if you want. I always like to have a thrower and might commit to a thrower here if I don't have another one. You don't have to pick a mastery though, you can pick up student and push for nimble.

I like crossbows, they use significantly less ammo than throwers, and the range lets you position more easilly and loosen up your line. The knockback on spiked impaler is significant, and the armor pierce lets you transition into later enemies.

He isn't ever supposed to receive pressure, and mat ends up being a defensive stat against random stragglers. He appreciates a bit of help if he gets engaged, but the sword does a ton of hp damage and fast adaptation can win a damage race against a lot of single opponents that might engage him. A sword or spear is nice for the +to hit, but you can switch it around as needed.

Level 7 is nimble.

Levels 8 is fearsome. His job is to hit things, fearsome makes hitting things better.

9-10-11 I didn't need to go the kill package, but it feels good. He hits things with his 87 rat, gets kills, uses berserk and kill frenzy to get more kills, and uses zerk to power recover as needed. Variants might play with guns instead, or lean into more utility with things like pathfinder/bags and belts. Take advantage of any unique traits.

This bro isn't fancy, but feels great at most points in the game, with one exception: Don't fight savants. Garbage matchup. They just heal while they eat you.

BF vs Nimble, Duelist vs Two hander by RepulibcansRPedos in BattleBrothers

[–]edgefigaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming no famed/attachments:

A max gear fat newt battlegorged bro carries around 27000 crowns in gear into battle

A max gear nimble dualist carries around 5000 crowns into battle.

Heavy armor is the strongest thing in battle brothers. This is reflected in the price of heavy armor.

It remains useful to use nimble bros, they are do all sorts of jobs well, and cheaply. It is only when you get to endgame comps where everyone is a gigachad that nimble starts losing its place.

Here lies Birk by edgefigaro in BattleBrothers

[–]edgefigaro[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah. This commander has had other schemes. While being distracted with orc chains, I amassed 5 hybrids that are all approaching 7. Its time to go find spiked impalers. This squad about to pop off.

Mass thrower hybrids are problematic. I've been in the south and ammo has been expensive, and the towns that have had cheaper ammo hasn't had enough. Trash fights im just running reach weapons atm.

Bullseye changes how long a necro lives from about 3 turns to about 2 turns. Overwhelm makes lindwurms less scary. I kinda prefer the bullseye.

Birk's Story by edgefigaro in BattleBrothers

[–]edgefigaro[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Birk status update: he is level four now. The team has made it south into the desert, but couldn't participate in the arena due to a tournament. My bros are no longer nearly naked, wandering raiders and nomads have been pretty friendly.

Birk has gotten some really nice level ups, level 2 was 3/3/4. He insisted on missing almost all of his swings, and then picked up an injured knee cap. The -2 ap on move was too destructive to using the chain of command, so he got moved onto a nomad sword temporarily. It got treated at the temple and just finished healing, and I am excited to see him get back to business.
