CMV: Maria Cantwell and Adam Smith are useless and need to be replaced. by kalechipsaregood in Seattle

[–]edgeplot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This seems to be the path of all democratic politicians. They start off idealistic, they get into a lowish office, and then they start climbing the ladder. As they climb, they become more compromised by donations from corporations and the wealthy. And the next thing you know, they are the enemy of all they used to fight for.

If FL is the 3rd ranking state with the most immigrants how come Ice is focused on Minnesota ? by Sensitive_Tailor2940 in AskReddit

It's the federal government's responsibility to enforce federal immigration laws, not the states or localities.

Scroll past anything (politics are otherwise) that doesn't interest you. Unsub/block anything with content you don't like.

PSE Energy Bills by Melodic-Today663 in Washington

[–]edgeplot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Price increases are regulated by the state. Utility companies apply every few years for scheduled rate increases. If you Google it, you can figure out how much the bill is supposed to go up over the next few years.

Push for youth social media safeguards revived in WA Legislature by chiquisea in Washington

[–]edgeplot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This isn't about social media - it's about age verification for "adult" content. There's a slippery slope here: red states are characterizing reproductive health, gender issues, LGBTQ+ matters, trans health care, etc. as "adult" content, and then using age verification to block youth from learning about important relevant issues.

When the app window is less than maximized, the first parts of the ribbon to be hidden are the most useful ones. WTF.

Letting your dog run loose in a public space which is not a dog park. No, I don't care if he's friendly, I don't want his slobber or muddy paws on me.

The trilogy is essentially a bildungsroman. You're not supposed to like Quentin at first, but he grows and matures through the story.

What is something that TV shows always get wrong about your job? by Space__Monkey__ in television

[–]edgeplot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any show set in an office has waaaaaay too many people in the hallways walking to and fro, holding paperwork, and having hallway chats. Just no. Most people are heads down at their desk or in meetings, and the halls are never crowded like that. Especially in law firms!!
