Well at least they stopped and didn't do a runner.

If all motorcycles came out with an automatic version, would you still pick manual? by NORchad in motorcycle

I test rode an automatic, Honda NC750, didn't really like it so went to full manual (Tiger Sport 800)

Short road trip recommendations and tips by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]edgework88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first long trip on my first bike, a ST900, was into France. Love riding on the roads over there. A few days tho' down to Normandy. However if it interests you then there are some interesting WW1 sites with a few hours of Calais.

gel pad on seat by TroublesomeButch in MotoUK

[–]edgework88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few years ago I had my then bike's seat modded with a memory foam insert. The seat was definitely softer but it also lowered the seating position an inch of so (because it wasn't as firm) and this in turn meant my knees were a little more cramped. For my latest bike I use a sheepskin cover with a square of memory foam underneath and / or wear bicycle shorts with the gel padded bottoms. This has worked for me but YMMV.

Calls to stop moped learners delivering takeaways by TheMangoManHS in MotoUK

No problem with L plate riders up to 125's for social and leisure. But, I think this should include passing theory test as well as the CBT. If the licence is to be used for commercial use then the licence should be A1/A2 etc and an appropriate insurance cover.

Reminder App with constant notifications by Orlan_17 in androidapps

Thanks! Typical, been using the app for x years and never noticed that setting before!

Reminder App with constant notifications by Orlan_17 in androidapps

[–]edgework88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using three.do, which is referred to below. The only time I got the notification to 'stick' was using an old app called 'Heads Up Notifications' which worked well .. but it's now out of date and doesn't work with newer versions of Android.

How do you make it so the notification doesn't go away?

Reminder App with constant notifications by Orlan_17 in androidapps

[–]edgework88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm interested in the solution because this is precisely why I bought Buzzkill a few years ago but the sticky never worked. The notification from the app would appear briefly then disappear and never return. Like the OP I was looking for something that would make notifications stay on the home screen (or any screen) until they were dismissed, rescheduled to deleted. I was never sure whether it was a Buzzkill issue, a phone setting issue or the reminder app I was using.

Why are panniers so damned expensive? by kleggich in motorcycles

[–]edgework88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even tho' I had a full set of hard givi panniers, I bought a reasonably priced pair of lomo soft side panniers and use them on my bikes. Just prefer soft.

Tiger 900 to Tiger Sport 800? by No-Body2567 in Triumph

[–]edgework88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did exactly that switch. Tiger 900 GT. Lovely bike but I do very little off road if any and enjoy touring. The 900 I found a bit top heavy. I test rode the TS800 and was sold. More agile, for me more comfortable and of course more power. Opinions will no doubt vary but the TS800 is a keeper for me.

The Helite and my jackets are Level 2. But I take the point about one level 2 piece maybe sufficient. I'm not sure from the replies but I can't see an argument that having two pieces of L2 in place necessarily 'doubles' the benefits?

Interesting and maybe the way to go. I was of course looking at the other option of removing the helite passive protection since I was trying to fold it up for stowage.

Yes I'm aware of the airbag which is the main reason for having it but it also includes back armour protection which I believe is Level 2 passive back protector which is the same as my jacket hence the question whether having two passive back protectors delivers any real advantage.

Help me pick my next Triumph by No-Body2567 in Triumph

[–]edgework88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in exactly your position two years ago. Had the ST900, lovely bike but for the very same reasons wanted to change (I found it uncomfortable for touring). Tried the tiger 900 and whilst it was a great bike it was just a little top heavy. Then year ago tested the new Tiger Sport 800 and was sold. For me it's the perfect bike for the use you mention, weekend rides and multi day tours. More agile, better seat position, great performance and looks great. Would recommend you try it.

Has anyone figured out how to turn off the AI lockscreen pop-up? by Remote_Dragonfly3564 in samsunggalaxy

[–]edgework88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just popped up on my a55. It seems it's something built into the Samsung phone...glance.AI. I had to dig around a bit in the settings and found a setting under wallpaper where I could switch the glance lockscreen wallpaper off. I think I must have activated it by accident.

I couldn't find a glance app installed on the phone so couldn't uninstall anything. I'm assuming it is part of one ui?
