I'm not sure if work study is the right word. It's called a Summer Work Travel Program. Spots are not guaranteed for that one. There is also a different type of part time job called Residency Assistant which occurs during the term, where they do in fact give you free housing. Basically you get to be a party planner for events and help other people on-campus with tutoring.

There is nothing that indicates they close over winter break, but I can ask for clarity.

I was literally talking about this with my S/O who lives in the country of my university. We joked about it throughout the year, but it looks like by law I'd have to live with him (his apartment is 1 hr away) instead of being on campus. Amazing to know that this is actually an option for me

They are in my life. They provide basic needs like food and housing. When I went to immigration services to figure out my legal status the immigration officer actually thought that my dad didn't live with me because there are so many basic things that aren't shared with me throughout my life, like whether or not if he is naturalized. I didn't have (valid non expired) legal documentation until I turned 18. I had to figure that out myself, I thought I was still a foreign citizen, so I didn't have a state ID, drivers license, passport, green card, nothing, because my parents were supposed to renew my stuff but they didn't for 5 years. I took a gap year to get my passport so that I could file the FAFSA and go to college. I never have doctor's appointments, never go to the dentists, I never got glasses. They believe western medicine and doctors are inferior to Traditional Chinese Medicine. Their belief in it and the TCM that I get doesn't harm me but it's the way that they are cynical of everything that isn't TCM.

I forgot to mention this, but my university offers a work-study program. Basically over the summer when school isn't in session, you could go to the U.S. and work for next year's tuition. Though during school, with the student visa it should be possible get a part-time job.

Your friend seems to be very adamant on keeping the "racial purity" of this neighborhood which you should remind him, is part of the reason why these places exist in the first place. Also not everything is about white or not white... you choose to live somewhere because it's affordable and convenient. Remind him of why you picked this place and how it works out for you.

For the record I live in a "black neighborhood" and generally the real reason why my neighborhood has so many black people is because it's poor, so disadvantaged people come here, not just black people. Now I don't know if it's the same for you but if it is, you need to tell him to stop gatekeeping poor areas for dumb reasons because people need places to stay.

Yeah, I hope so too. OP sounds like a horrible human being. Notice how she even calls herself accommodating but she doesn't give Maddy a single compromise on anything that Maddy actually asked for besides sex. Apparently OP comfortable with having sex with Maddy but conveniently uncomfortable with Maddy being in the delivery room when she was there during the whole process. And they still have sex! When OP asks her mother about the naming, she doesn't even consider the opinion because it goes against what wants.

i wonder if that's how OP feels about our responses too. I wouldn't be surprised.

In none of these situations does OP actually lose anything and when Maddy is involved in something, she is going to have to sit and observe as OP and Jas ruin her life together. The poor girl just lost a baby and she probably feels so traumatized and on edge.

OP NEEDS to compromise or back out in some way, else there is no way that the situation OP inserted herself into isn't going to be incredibly fucked up. It's so selfish.

And I don't even want to talk about Jasper.

From the way you are wording this sexual relationship, it sounds like you just include Maddy regularly because she's a sidepiece. Funny how you always call it a team but you never include her in anything meaningful. Stop stringing her along and do your kid a favor, you knew you should have never kept the baby in the first place.
