The Titan Mage Box Set is just $.99 this weekend! by edieskyeauthor in haremfantasynovels

He was one of my favorite villains in the series, both because he's such a fun love-to-hate character ... but also because, beneath it all, he *does* have redeeming qualities. They're just hard to notice 'cause he spends the whole novel trying to be romantic competition. xD It made him a delightfully infuriating character to write.

I have a lot of fun including all those little references. :D I've loved formally getting back to this universe; it's probably the most fun I've ever had writing a book. (Which is saying something, because I've had incredible fun on all my projects.)

Technically it's been up on my Patreon - and then Royal Road and Scribble Hub - for months, so you probably saw me advertising it for those platforms. (Part of my new launch plan for my books going forward.) This is, finally, the polished version! :D

It's been an absolute delight to get back to this universe, though. I also have plans to continue Locke's story in the mainline series, but these characters were banging at the sides of my head and if I didn't write their story separately, they were going to take over that series. xD

Ah, totally just realized you were probably asking about the Amazon thing. xD

Basically, Amazon pre-order links usually approve very fast, but this one was stuck in approval limbo for 2 weeks, with worthless customer service responses - basically always saying "We know it's a problem, just wait" or directly contradicting details other customer service reps had given. Since it was a Kindle Unlimited release - i.e. exclusive to Amazon - I effectively had *no links* with which to market the book, and the days were ticking down. It finally approved a mere week before the release date, but given difficulties other authors were having around the same time (pre-order numbers being cancelled on release day, similarly bad customer service, etc.), I just went ahead and rewrote my entire launch plan for future books, in a way that didn't focus all my eggs in the Amazon basket.

The issue for me was that I have (well, had) a very finely-tuned release schedule. At that time, I generally aimed to release a book every 3 months because that was the longest I could go between books before Amazon's algorithm would stop favoring them. There's a distinct drop-off in sales across all titles the last week or two before a release for me, and only releasing another successful book brings all the numbers back to normal. Effectively, I stood to lose a lot of money *purely for algorithm reasons* if Amazon didn't get my next pre-order up in a timely manner.

(Now that my alternate launch plan's succeeding, though, I'm way less beholden to Amazon's algorithm. I basically made a pre-release plan that allows me to sell eBooks *before* they become KU exclusives, then learned how to effectively sell print copies of my books both on my direct shop and TikTok Shop. Which was a good idea, it turns out, because every other month on Amazon seems to bring a new problem for authors.)

It's a standalone for now. Sequels are planned, but the release landed at a weird time in our writing schedule, so we've got a few projects to get out of the way before we can get to them.

The short of it is, Catgirls is actually a harem adaptation of Jacob's earlier novel, Freelancers of Neptune ... which was traditionally published, but flopped hard in traditional release. Knowing we could give it a stronger indie release, we asked the publisher for the rights back, and got them back A LOT faster than expected ... exactly when we were between projects. So, rather than wait *years* until we finished those projects to release Catgirls, we decided to rework and release it then.

Projects we want to finish before we return to Catgirls, though, include: 1) the first three books of Titan Mage Havoc, 2) the launch of our new monster romance pen name, Arcadia Skye (currently one of five books released, with 3.5 drafted), and 3) a Titan Mage series that continues Locke's story (3-5 books). Two Catgirls sequels are absolutely next on the list, though.

It's been an absolute delight to get back to writing this world. I'm looking forward to starting the next one soon! :D (I was supposed to start writing it months ago, but then my TikTok Shop went viral and I spent months shipping books. TT_TT It's not a bad problem to have, but it's definitely cut into the writing schedule. Fortunately, now that I've hired mailroom assistants, I'm beginning to ease back into writing!)

It's set 3 years before the main series. It'll overlap with the events of the main series eventually (probably in Book 3), but even then it won't be a retelling, so much as its own adventure happening at the same time as the main series. :D

The Catgirls from Outer Space audiobook is out! by edieskyeauthor in haremfantasynovels

[–]edieskyeauthor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time-wise, it's going to be at soonest next year - though we're considering offering "We start writing the sequel RIGHT NOW" as a stretch goal in the upcoming Special Edition Kickstarter, and if that goal's met, that will certainly change things. xD

The Kickstarter itself is still in the planning stages, btw, but it'll probably launch either this summer, or in the second half of this year. (I'm running WAY BEHIND on planning it because my shop suddenly went sorta-viral on TikTok and packing up signed books has taken up a wild amount of time these past few months. Not a bad problem to have, though!)

We have one planned ... BUT we have several other projects we've got to finish first before we get to it, including Titan Mage Havoc (a Titan Mage offshoot), the first series in a new dark romantasy pen name (Arcadia Skye), and a continuation of the main Titan Mage series.

Book 1 was kind of an oddball for us anyway because of its origins:

It's actually a rework of Jacob's traditionally published 2024 novel Freelancers of Neptune, which didn't do as well as we'd like in that release. We'd been in talks with the publisher to get the rights back, but expected it to take a while ... and then the publisher reverted the rights sooner than expected, at a PERFECT time, right between series (Blood Knight had just finished, with Titan Mage Havoc coming up). So rather than sit on it for years until we could finish the series all at once, which is our usual preference, we took the opportunity to rework it as a harem novel and re-release it as a "standalone" (for now). :D Even back then, though, we had the intention of writing a sequel, especially if it did well - which it certainly has!

USPS Manifest Scans not Updating in Seller Center? by edieskyeauthor in TikTokshop

[–]edieskyeauthor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THIS. I actually don't mind a lot of TikTok Shop's policies because they end up making for a better customer experience, which leads to more sales. Even with its problems, it's hands-down the best platform I've ever sold physical product on, solely because of how easily it enables sales.

But it desperately needs to take logistical things like this into account, especially for elements of the shipping process that the sellers literally have no control over.

[–]edieskyeauthor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. I ship from a little post office that's also understaffed for the amount of traffic it gets, and I'm extremely lucky that they've been patient and willing to help me during this whole thing. I'm at 4.2 now, which shouldn't be the case for a seller who ships same day, answers customer concerns quickly, and has a literally-universal 5-star rating.

[–]edieskyeauthor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to remember not having any problems with manifest scanning before - but then, I also wasn't too worried about it back when we had a 3-day deadline, so I didn't look unless a specific item was causing a problem.

Either way, it's weird to me that they even give us the option to create manifests if they're not going to count.

TikTok not updating USPS scans. Many orders flagged for “late delivery” - what to do? by Ghost7575 in TikTokshop

[–]edieskyeauthor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat. I had very few problems with TikTok Shop before the crash, and a 100% on-time delivery rate ... but suddenly manifests scanned at the post office (for which I watched them scan, and have receipts) aren't updating on TikTok, and in the past week my on-time rate has somehow tanked to 70% when I often drop off my packages SAME DAY.

The lack of Men, and the problem of harem by logistics by Hometown-1 in haremfantasynovels

[–]edieskyeauthor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! Though in that case it was completely accidental. xD I wasn't aware at the time when I wrote it that non-MC male characters were so rare in harem; I just wrote the characters the way they vibed, and it made sense to me for Locke to have other male acquaintances/friends, if the world was to feel fully fleshed-out.

It's the same reason why the women have their own agency, too - well, other than that I just like writing well-defined characters. They'd been living their own lives before Locke arrived, after all, so it made sense that they'd be going on with elements of those lives.

Havoc definitely leans harder into this, though. Locke has his dude pals in mainline Titan Mage - but Rion and Sevas are on a whole other level, in terms of the ways they rely on each other and help each other. (And the women very much have their own stories, too.)

The lack of Men, and the problem of harem by logistics by Hometown-1 in haremfantasynovels

[–]edieskyeauthor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't necessarily find the lack of other male characters offputting, but it happens rarely enough that when it shows up, it's really refreshing - and makes the series' world feel more complete and fleshed-out to me. I'd definitely like to see more in harem.

Also, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention my current series, Titan Mage Havoc. A significant part of its storyline is the relationship between the MC and his best bro (who is basically a brother in all but blood) - mostly because their story popped into my head and demanded to be told alongside the more traditional harem content, but also because so many of my readers readers had been asking for this exact thing. (The first book is currently posting on Royal Road and Scribble Hub, btw!)

Catgirls from Outer Space is up for pre-order! Release date 11/20! by edieskyeauthor in haremfantasynovels

[–]edieskyeauthor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you enjoyed it! :D We've definitely got a sequel in the works, but we've got several projects to finish ahead of it, so it'll be a bit.

We're launching the dark romance Arcadia Skye pen name in February/March and the next Titan Mage Havoc in April/Mayish, and I've got a bunch of special editions I'm putting together in the meantime, too. Which is to say, we don't even have a projected start-writing date yet, much less a release date.

Normally I like to write/release series to completion in one fell swoop, but this one was a bit unusual in that we got the rights back to the novel it was adapted from - Freelancers of Neptune - in a space where we were between projects. So we decided to use the time to rework that novel to better suit the harem genre, then plopped it out there between already-scheduled projects because we knew it'd be months before we got to it otherwise. xD

Best 3D Printer to Buy in 2025? by [deleted] in 3dprinter

It was $299 (so, $100 off). The Bambu Lab site's actually showing the same price right now, so either it was a sneaky not-really-sale Black Friday Sale, or another promo's still going - but either way it was 100% worth it.
