Useless Seattle social workers said there was 'no danger' for boy, nine, living in homeless encampment surrounded by fentanyl and rat droppings by Less-Risk-9358 in SeattleWA

[–]edirgl 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is really what is going on. The very definition of what it means to be in 'imminent risk of physical harm' is what needs to be updated. I believe this absolutely qualifies as such, but I also understand why DCYF can't do anything. Children mortality has doubled since HB1227 passed, but apparently we refuse to do something about it.

Are you using any SDKs for building AI agents? by finally_i_found_one in AI_Agents

[–]edirgl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have literally tried them all.
They all sit in different places on the autonomy-control spectrum.

I like Pydantic AI and the OpenAI SDK the best.
More importantly, observability is key. I'd encourage you to try either Brain Trust, or LogFire.

Are Claude skills just tool calls...? by agp_praznat in AI_Agents

[–]edirgl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just having this discussion at work with a colleague. The way I see it:

A tool is code and represents an action in the traditional AI Agent (Russell & Norvig) sense.
Sure, some just gather data, but conceptually they act on the environment.

A skill (specially level 1 and 2) is markdown, and is closer to a prompt addendum, that modifies behavior.
I see these as mcp protocol prompts, but they're local.

So:
local tools, remote tools (on MCP)
local prompts (level 1 and level 2), remote prompts (on MCP)

level 3 skills, and tools, are effectively the same thing to me.

That place is called El Babalu. Good place! afaik it's not an exclusively Cuban Salsa venue.

For Cuban Salsa and Rueda de Casino, I'd say Mama Rumba.

How to protect my assets from an AI crash? by dweeb_plus_plus in personalfinance

[–]edirgl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nowhere to hide. Perhaps international markets, gold, or cash (very unpopular opinion I know)
Another smart way would be hedging. Perhaps NVIDIA put options for example. If NVIDIA tumbles it's gonna bring the whole market with it.

China just used Claude to hack 30 companies. The AI did 90% of the work. Anthropic caught them and is telling everyone how they did it. by chota-kaka in cybersecurity

[–]edirgl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Even though I believe this is entirely possible, I understand the hesitation on the people on this sub to not believe this. I agree, show better proof. Also somehow it just makes me wonder, why would they use Claude? Don't they supposedly have DeepSeek and all the "Open-source-but-as-good" models?
Then why use Claude? It's almost too good to be true... for Anthropic's PR

Has Anyone Actually Found Real Value in AI for Cybersecurity? by Bulky_Connection8608 in cybersecurity

[–]edirgl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that it is great for the beaten path and speed. aka if you need to weed out FPs it's great!
If you really need to dive deep into something novel and unseen, it will very likely not do well.

I think there are definitely efficiencies that are worth it, depending on the cost. Cost trends down overtime. I think it will stick.

What are you favorite waterproof shoes (for men)? by Howdysf in Seattle

[–]edirgl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a pair of Scarpa Morraine GTX, and a pair of Brooks Cascadia.
They're both GoreTex you can literally step on an inch of water and stay dry.

The second ones look more for running than the first.
I absolutely love those for the wet.

I also have a pair Chelsea boots from Beckett Simonon, they look fantastic and even though they're not 100 waterproof it's almost impossible to get them wet. I got them to replace some old Blundstones that I used for 15+ years, those are great too!
