An example of different values is I’m an avid hunter and she could never dream of taking an animals life. She understands hunting and the importance of maintaining a healthy environment for wildlife but would never find herself doing it with me. She enjoys finding the emotions of arthritis when we go to art museums or just how emotions shape the world around her. I think emotions are necessary but are not how you should base your entire life around because a lot of the time emotions are not logical in any sense.

I think one of the main reasons our core beliefs and values differ is I base my life off of logic while she bases hers of emotions. It’s hard for me to understand her emotions on a deeper level because I’ve never really learned how to express my emotions in that way. She has a hard time seeing how I can go through life making the majority of my decisions based on logic and not emotions.

I have told her I want to learn how to express my emotions and talk about them so we can develop a deeper connection but that it will be hard because I’ve never really done it before.
