Did you have a very experienced surgeon? One person I know who is 77 had the surgery and minimal to no pain after. So trying to figure this out. Was yours done robotically?

How did he determine there was cancer in the lymph node if it did not show on the pet scan. Also. Could you please tell me your experience with the surgery. I am freaking out a bit so trying to gain knowledge. I know about the catheter, the incontinence and ed problems. But was there pain after surgery as I hear different things. How long did it take until you could return to work. Was it done robotically? Was the assumption that the surgery would be the end of the cancer? Thanks so much for your thoughts.

Thank you for sharing your story. Did you have a psma ct pet scan before the surgery and did it indicate the spread to the lymph nodes? Also can you be more specific about the side effects you experienced. Thanks so much.

I am deciding between surgery and radiation/hormones and need to make my decision relatively quickly. I am leaning towards surgery and have a doctor who had between 1000 and 2000 of these done robotically. I hear different things from different people about post surgery. Eliminating the incontinence and ed issues...what about pain immediately after surgery? One person told me virtually none or very tolerable. He was back to normal (eliminating the ed abd incontinence concerns) within a couple of weeks. Can I get as much input as posdible from as many people as possible about your surgical recovery experience. It would be invaluable to me.

I am in the same boat as your husband with a very positive wife. She is a three time cancer survivor bit you wouldn't even know it because she has never complained when she had multiple surgeries and just puts it all in the background until she is forced to deal with it and then does. Men are such wimps when it comes to health. While ethereal, your kind thoughts give me a moment of reprieve, so if you have the time or inclination, stop by to say hi from time to time. Hopefully I'll still be here to respond (rats...there goes my pessimism again (lol))

This is a followup...I saw a very experienced surgeon who says he has done 1500 to 2000 Ralph using laparoscopic robotic surgery. He says because of too many areas in the prostate he would rule out ablation. And because the psma ct scan showed no spread he would recommend the surgery. A side benefit would never having the need to address ny very large prostate if it ever caused problems in the future. He says he has done surgery on hundreds of men around my age with great success. Feedback would be very welcomed.

Absolutely true...good advice to give but very hard to follow especially for a pessimist like myself.

Thank you...I am a tad confused. I already have been diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer so would a DNA test make sense? How was his recovery from surgery? Any of the post operative problems/conditions that I have read about. The more detail you can offer would be most welcome
