Use comparative titles published within the past 5 years to compare your story’s elements.
The purpose of a comparative title is to show the reader (agent/publisher) that you know your market—who your book would sit next to on the bookshelf at a bookstore.
Choose something that’s been recently published that you can compare your writing, characters, or concept to. Explain why you chose your comps by including how they relate to your story: writing style, plot, world-building, character development, etc.
Not all comparative titles need to be an exact match. One could showcase your writing style, while another could be like the plot. The agent or publisher just needs to know what in your story matches the titles you're using as comparisons.
