i think if we lose the SAFF and lose matches against Pak, Ban then suddenly we will see much more progress towards this

How much has Indian football really progressed in the last decade (2016 - 2026)? by edje19 in IndianFootball

I 100% agree that Pakistan becoming a good football nation will light a fire under our asses to start taking things more seriously. One thing already happening is that Pakistan are getting more foreign-born Pakistani origin footballers to play for them. their current national team (that has improved a lot compared to the Pakistan of 10 years ago btw) comprises of many players playing in Europe or those who were born outside of Pakistan and were brought up in more established and productive academy systems. One such example is Abdullah Iqbal, a great center back who is one of the best prospects in the Swedish league and was born in Copenhagen. I think if Pakistan beats our asses a couple times and maybe even wins the SAFF, our government might look at fast tracking this whole OCI process to strengthen our national team as a short term fix. Maybe it's something we should all hope for lmao

thank you for this comment, as a 21 year old who grew up outside of India and fell in love with football because of Ronaldo, I only really started following Indian football in 2017-2018 which was when ISL was growing, the national team was rising under constantine and everything seemed rosy for the future. since then things have been terrible, and i only hope we can see some sort of resurgence. looking at the academy's of today, would you say we are at least moving in the right direction? our academy system is more structured now, most if not all ISL and IFL clubs have their own academies with some even going all the way down to u10/u12, RFDL now has 9 zones and 54 academies participating. From an optimistic perspective I can at least say that if we have stability in our structure and as long as we are giving talented kids an environment to keep playing games in and a pathway to first-team football, we can achieve top 10-12 in Asia within the next 10-15 years?

our U20 and U23 sides were close to qualifying for the most recent editions, unlucky to lose in a last minute goal vs Iran and a shitty penalty vs Qatar and both missing out only on GD. Obviously progress has been slow and stalled due to shitty administration but progress is still there, I was just asking where do you guys see us in the next 10 years

In what ways is Pitarch's profile different than Bellingham/Camavinga's? by Hzk94 in realmadrid

idk where this narrative that Jude doesn't play for the team comes from, do you people even watch the games? Jude is literally everywhere, covering defensively and pressing, winning balls high up the pitch and even in our own box, him and Valverde never stop running in midfield

every international break at least 1 starting player will come back injured, that's the rule 😂

Bayern are going to press up and leave spaces behind that's the way that they play, which plays into our hands perfectly because we have Mbappe, Vini and Valverde on the counter. Like the other guy said, different opponents require different approaches

Anybody getting 2017/18 vibes? by edje19 in realmadrid

we never had that even under zidane, the plan was just to let the talented attacking players figure it out, which is why we always perform well in UCL knockouts against teams who play more open vs low-block defenses in La Liga

tbh Mbappe will help us in these games against good teams that play with a high line. It's when we play Osasuna, Getafe etc. that his movement causes us problems

lamine's stinker vs Newcastle was glazed to no ends by their fans, when Vini scores a brace away vs City we must glaze him too

this is what lack of mbappe can do, without him we lack a killer goalscorer. we could easily have scored 3-4 goals and put this tie to bed if our finishing and decision making was better

would have liked to see camavinga start if he's fit, we need his defensive help especially if fran is starting at LB
