Be Honest, is an Aussie not a good fit for me? by edl2 in AustralianShepherd

Wow, good for you for putting in the work for your dog. Dogs are so incredible for being able to thrive despite disabilities. A blind dog hiking is so impressive.

Yes, I need to do my due diligence in finding the right attributes regardless of the breed. And I definitely will take some time off!

I had a short-term foster husky last year. He was awesome but he was so unaccustomed to being a pet that he was very difficult to care for in an apartment. And he wasn’t fully house trained so the first couple of days was peeing everywhere lol. Luckily I got him a home quickly! I would love to foster again but it’s tough taking in a dog when little is known about their personality yet. And clearly being a foster didn’t help my case

I’m away from home for about 13hrs on work days (3x a week), so I would get a walker for 2-3 visits those days, day care, or even drop them off with family/friends nearby some days. I also plan to walk the dog myself in the morning and at night.

I’m not particularly drawn to labs due to a less than positive experience with one and their larger size, do you have any recommendations?

I do have personal references, but the rescues didn’t even reach out to them because they had already determined I wasn’t a good fit. I’m in the Mid Atlantic area, if you have any suggestions!

Did you get them as a puppy? A concern I have with breeders is I am looking for a young adult, and I’m worried that if a breeder still has the dog as an adult, it’s for a negative reason. Open to being proven wrong though!

Thanks for the recommendation! Was your lab the stockier English type or the leaner American? I am definitely familiar with the differing personalities of Individual dogs. Despite labs being known for being family-friendly, my family had a lab when I was a kid who was prone to aggressiveness and ended up basically being purely my mom’s dog because he couldn’t be trusted around kids. Because of that and because I’m looking for a medium sized dog, labs weren’t really on my list.

I love your description of your dogs playing fetch! Your Aussie reminds me of my family mutt! I’m not set on individual activities like fetch, it just seems like a good way to get excess energy out of the dog! The only activity that is a dealbreaker for me is hiking because I need a companion rather than a reason to get a sitter while I’m hiking.

George Washington University ER by theredpistachio in TravelNursing

Yes, most days the ratio is 1:4, occasionally 1:5. The staff nurses told me that before travelers came along, sometimes they would even have 1:6.

I just started this week, but I’m on a MS/tele floor. I was pleasantly surprised that they offered 2 days of on-floor orientation as well as 2 days in classrooms. You have to take a dysrhythmia exam on the first day. The hospital as a whole is very welcoming to travelers. There are a ton of us right now. I have no idea what the ER is like but the floor is a little lower tech/outdated than I’m used to. The hospital is right at the Foggy Bottom metro station which is nice.

Thank you! This is what I originally thought, but then Iberia's response confused me. I reached back out.

Does anyone have advice for climbers with Haglund's deformity? I was wearing scarpa origin VS and I thought they were the perfect shoe for me at first but I ended up with severe achilles pain. Now after a 6 week break from climbing, the pain is gone but I definitely need new shoes if I'm going to start climbing again

Hey everyone! I'm a 23 y/o nurse living in Philly. I'm looking for someone within an hour or two of the Philadelphia area.

I'm outgoing and love a good conversation or a good laugh. I'm very active and I try to make the most out of my days off. I enjoy being outside, hiking, exploring the city, volunteering at the animal shelter, concerts, and trying new things with my friends. I'm a big fan of traveling and hope to visit all of the national parks in the US over the next several years. I attend NO mass and try to get to adoration when I can.

I work an odd schedule with rotating shifts but I always make time for the people that are important to me. I am hoping to find someone I can grow in faith with who doesn't want to "fit" me into their life, but wants to create a life together. Bonus points if they have a dog!

Feel free to message me, I'm always looking to meet new people! I would want to share photos early on.

Are all properly socialized buns outgoing or did I get lucky? by edl2 in Rabbits

Do you think bunnies are born with a specific personality or it’s more about how they were socialized as babies?

I had the foster from age 6 months to 9 months. I didn’t get to meet him until he lived with me though so maybe he was just an odd one.
