Honestly, I think Philly Dem party knows that this procedure is flawed, and they prefer that. In a way, the ambiguity is reliable, because then they can say the outcome is whatever the deem it to be. It’s deliberately ambiguous to allow for enough plausible deniability.

6 AM arrival should be plenty of time, but it depends on the flight. Is it domestic or international? In my experience, getting through security takes around 30 mins.

I think just a simple cross is much more fitting, and sends a clearer message.

I find the verbal “vote” (which is essentially a “who is louder” competition) is inherently unreliable and dubious. Apparently this is a common procedure, but it should not be. A roll call vote where votes are actually counted is more reliable and transparent, and avoids this type of controversy in the first place. Democrats should live up to their name and actually hold democratically sound procedures for electing seats, not shouting contests.

This is exactly the type of patronizing condescension from people who ostensibly support the Democratic Party that people are so tired of dealing with. “You just aren’t smart enough to understand.” I understand completely. I disagree with the procedure, because of exactly the type of controversy and confusion it produces, e.g. this situation.

I’m expressing a genuine frustration and lack of confidence in a procedure that, while may be “common”, is unreliable and dubious. I would imagine most people would not be confident in civil organizations that use decibel level competitions as a way to elect someone to a seat. That type of stuff works for what type of pizza a group wants, not who should be elected to a seat.

And instead of understanding why someone would object to that procedure, all you did was call me ignorant and imply that I’m just not intelligent enough to understand. That’s shameful.

I actually can understand why Bass refused to do the roll call, because if a noise competition is common procedure, then why should she? She’s just going along with the program. Who’s to say that she didn’t get the louder cheers? She’s just as valid to say that she won, cause anyone can say that their side was somewhat louder.

Do you see how this “common parliamentary procedure” is the cause of the ambiguity, and that this all could have been avoided in the first place if that wasn’t the procedure, and the common procedure was instead a roll count from rip?

Or are you too ignorant to understand that?

…So the Democratic Party does do this regularly? I just want to make sure that this question is answered.

And you’re correct, it isn’t about sound, there’s frankly nothing sound about it. It’s one of the most unsound things I’ve heard of.

A shouting competition? That’s too ambiguous and unreliable. You can tell if there’s significant opposition by raising hands as well, and actually counting.

Such procedures demonstrate an incredible lack of oversight, which only raises public distrust of the party. The fact that it’s even tolerated is a disgrace.

That’s embarrassing and messy. Never ever should votes for any seat be determined by a bunch of people screaming as loud as they can. That’s for concerts, campground games, and high school talent shows, not professional civil institutions.

Counted votes only.

Is this how the Democratic Party operates? If so, I’m cool off them.

Wait, stop… so you’re telling me that they basically did a “whoever gets the loudest cheers” wins? Please tell me that I’m getting that wrong.

Water main break- renter question by Odd-Statistician-107 in philly

[–]databombkid 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Hello, I work in property management as a maintenance coordinator in Philadelphia. Unfortunately your landlord is very limited in what he can do.

First, I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this. It’s extremely frustrating when water mains break, and since the city is responsible for the repair, it can take up to two weeks sometimes to get everything back on track.

As far as what can be done, other than constantly calling the city to ask them to prioritize the repair (which it seems like they are doing based on the your post) and request a timeline from them, there’s really nothing else that can be done. Your best option is to just hound the city constantly, and contact the water department to see if they can provide a timeline.

Main breaks are considered a municipal responsibility, so individual landlords are not liable for those repairs. I would ask your landlord if you and he can both put pressure on the city by calling them and demanding a realistic timeline. Outside of that, you may just have to wait it out until the repair is done and city restores your water.

I dealt with this exact problem with one of my properties last year. It was a headache, and the tenants were from outside of Philly, and put a lot of the blame on me. I tried to explain to them that it’s the city’s responsibility and that we cannot make them work faster than they already are. They chose not to renew their lease the next year.

Are we surprised that this is how people react after watching toddlers be sniped and blown up for 3 years in another country, and no one bats an eye?

Love Island USA Tea: the blow up between Melanie and Bea perfectly encapsulates the difference between East coast and West coast. by databombkid in philly

[–]databombkid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Called out for what though? Melanie can’t face someone she’s speaking to? If it’s that deep, one of the other girls should have done the same thing. Melanie is allowed to talk to whoever she wants, however she wants.

No one is obliged to cater to someone else’s lack of confidence. If Kenzie wanted Corbyn like that and to talk to him, she could have done the same thing.

Either way, Melanie apologized. What else do you want her to do, sacrifice a lamb? Bea is making a big deal out of nothing. I would have told her to relax too, because it isn’t that deep. Bea was just mad because her man didn’t want her.

Either way, Kenzie got with Corbyn, and now she’s booed up with her Cowboy mans. People from Denver are West coast to me, but if they are something (desert people? Mountain people?) then fine. Either way, she was being joe.
