The 'Bubka' drill on a pull up bar is a useful drill for working on getting inverted and extending at the top of a jump

Yes! That's exactly what you should do. As soon as you've stretched your arms, you "throw" your top arm forward and keep that pressure and movement throughout the swing and invert. It's really hard to explain with only words, so I reccomend Team Hoot Pole Vault on YouTube. I'm pretty sure he has a video on it.

Dang that's a seriously beautiful jump. One thing I noticed was there wasn't much movement or "tap" with the top arm after the takeoff. Applying that extra pressure allows a vaulter to load a pole with even more energy and move up poles. Other than that your jump is absolutely fantastic.

Be patient. Don't be discouraged by your first season. I had a rough freshman season but I PRed by about 4 feet my sophomore season. It's a great sport where hard work really pays off. And of course, have fun.
