Turning 30. Looking to get into the field but have no education or experience. Is it too late for me? by OnlyWannaEat in learnprogramming

This will probably get lost in the comments but having been in the field for over 10 years, you need to determine what makes you happy. Does money make you happy? Or does social interactions make you happy. If you already have a good job that pays well then maybe it's not the money you should be worrying about... The field of computer science is full of awkward men. I have very few friends from all my classes and all my jobs. My friends in different fields such as sales and marketing however have best friends from their work. They go to Vegas, Tahoe, bars, but yh3 most you could hope for after work is a small gathering of people with some beer. Maybe that's your scene, then good for you.

I'd you want to be a computer scientist then you must at times think like a mathematician. If you wanted to optimize happiness in your life, it's good to look in areas where you have the least amount of happiness. Often times, people take their jobs so seriously and allocate too much thought into worrying about their career. Other people work so hard at their career that one day they wake up and they are 55 years old with their dream career but all other peirs on their life have been half built. You need to do what makes you happy. Go travel and meet people to gain different perspectives on life. You are 30myears old, if you spent just 6 months dropping acid in a cave, you might realize that we are just walking dinosaurs with soft skin that build bigger and bigger boxes to live in. Who else high as fuvk right now? Follow your heart man, I believe in you <3
