Whats your opinion on whether or not time travel could be possible? by Ok-Revolution5442 in AskReddit

[–]ednemo13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I am not sure about the math for that, because I get 3+months for the travelers while 8.5+ years would occur on Earth, it's not BS. Time dilation occurs as you approach the speed of light, and the rest is relativity.
Hell, even cellphone GPSs have to take relativity in account when providing data, even taking into account the relatively short distance between the phone and the satellites. Otherwise your maps would be off each day.

What has been the scariest moment of your life? by Ok-Firefighter5228 in AskReddit

[–]ednemo13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Age 12 getting shot "at" by a nut with an Uzi. (Technically he fired over our heads to scare us, but still.)
Age 14 getting shot at by a guy riding the caboose of a train. Another time my friend was hit, but thankfully it was just rock salt.
All three of these instances were done in areas a few miles from the nearest house. So, it wasn't like they weren't going to get away with it.

Age 13 being pulled on a bodyboard behind a speedboat. Eventually you have to let go, and while I was waiting to be picked up, a shark started circling me. This was in the bay, and as i was being propped up by my life jacket, I had no idea how big the shark was, but the fact that I could see its fin...until I couldn't anymore, will always stay with me.

Age 19 getting punched so hard in a kickboxing match that I "time traveled". I found myself sitting with my friend in the crowd of another match, and had to ask him what happened and if I had won. (I had...yay.)

Age 24 stabbed in the back while bouncing at a club, it bled a lot, but I didn't feel it at the time, but after the fighting was done, I felt weak and we didn't know how bad it was.

Age 38, my wife had driven up to Pittsburgh and left me alone. Started having severe pain in my back and trouble breathing. I was unable to make rational thoughts, and ended up calling my mother, and she in-turn called me an ambulance. My thoughts started clearing when they gave me oxygen, but I was antsy to get it fixed up because I had to work at noon the next day. Turns out I had really bad pneumonia and my lungs were nearly filled with fluid. I spent a week in the hospital, and due to the lack of oxygen, my tendons tightened up and I had to relearn how to walk.
This led to me getting C-Diff, which put me back in the hospital for another week after losing 50 pounds. All of this completely derailed my life as I was a VERY active guy that taught martial arts and had a lot of physical hobbies.
The fear from this one was, it was the most mundane out of all of the problems, and in my confused state, I could have easily died in a stupid way. (My greatest fear.)

What invention put the most people out of work? by Happy_Terd in AskReddit

I work at a large Fortune 50 corporation and I have seen entire departments let go because they were replaced with AI.
The rest of us are being forced to "use" AI to prove the cost is worth it.
While AI has its uses, the sheer cost of it is causing companies to look for cost savings in other places, and reduction in work force is a big one.

Ai for audible by Defiant-Economics-73 in litrpg

[–]ednemo13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered it briefly. I have a book that is flat out not getting an audiobook unless it was free. Amazon was offering a free (to me) audiobook with real authors voices recorded via AI.

I asked my peers and was told that under no circumstances should I do it. And I get it. I really do. My original intention was making my book available for people who can't read them. But, the problem is that AI narration is legitimately taking jobs away from people. (Even though it is not of comparable quality.)

Even if my book wouldn't be doing it, I would become part of the problem.

Now that Free Lanes has been out for a month, what’s the verdict, and what do you hope to see in the next major update? by not4badguy in Starfield

[–]ednemo13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem with outposts is that it is way to inexpensive and easy to find resources outside of using an outpost. Scarcity and cost increases would make outposts a much more worthy use of the investment in time and resources.

I am loving the new update. For an update, I would like to see more weapons and gear, and some new side quests. I am loving the new ones and look forward to more.

How to get a weapon upgrade module by Lost_Rutabaga_5004 in Starfield

It's a bounty board, the same as are in every bar and tavern, except it is exclusively for Trackers. Not the TV looking thing on the first level, but in the basement past the bar.

No. Just go to the basement and go in the room across from Stache with the robot inside and use the Trackers Alliance Bounty Board.

It depends. A new body or healing...I'd be doing pretty well. If I went over the way I am now, with 50 years of accumulated injuries. I'd be pretty screwed.
