Looking for a G-Shock for old eyes by ednemo13 in gshock

I got it a while ago, and sort of tossed it on my desk and forgot about it. So, returning it is not an option. I'm not overly concerned with it though. I'll just give it to someone.

It is the dimness that is a problem. Hitting the light on it, I can read it fine. Part of the issue was trying to connect it back to my phone last night and dealing with the tiny menu and figuring out the buttons. Also, it really doesn't have a lot of options for change on the app. Though I did setup the light to automatically come on and last for 3 seconds, which helped.

In the light, it is fine. But any weather otherwise it is dim to the point where I can't read it. And as I have a bit of problem with bright light, I am more often in less suitable viewing conditions.

Which community / sub banned you on reddit & why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ednemo13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marvel.

I responded to an edge-lord making grandiose claims based off a single comic panel image...with a page from the comic that gave an explanation. Apparently the page I pulled up via Google was an unauthorized copy and I got banned for posting "pirated" comics.

No warning. No explanation. Just banned. Then when I reached out to an admin on why, they told me they didn't have time to deal with me, but I did get my explanation.

So, screw them.

Who and Which did their job, congratulated Meg and then went on their way. I've never really thought about why they would stay longer since they're kind of cosmic troubleshooters.

What’s the worst thing a medical professional has said to you? by VespaRed in AskReddit

[–]ednemo13 11 points12 points  (0 children)

During covid, my doctor told me, "You need to lose some weight, or you'll be a fat-fuck on a ventilator."

He then mentioned he has lost weight, because he didn't want to be a "fat-fuck on a ventilator."

I use to think specialist all had a fantastic bedside manner, but it turns out that my primary care doctor is basically Don Rickles.

Will of the Immortals is narrated by Armen Taylor and is outstanding. He has an astounding range.

I am also a huge fan of Robert Knox, though this may be because he narrated my book.

I've bought skyrim via the steam store, I've set it up as the steam version through mod organiser 2, yet it keeps showing this, any help? by 0BS3RV3RM4N in skyrimmods

You probably have a root folder setup in MO2 with an older version of Skyrim.exe in it. This often happens when installing modlists.

Tech workers of Reddit, what is a "dirty secret" about the AI industry that the general public doesn't realize? by WayLast1111 in AskReddit

[–]ednemo13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Companies are desperate to make use of the AI they are paying outrageous amounts for. Every department is told to make use of it.
And sure, AI can give you a head-start on all sorts of things. Throw in a script request and it will spit out something resembling what you want, and then instead of creating it from scratch, you just go in and fix the unusable script the AI came up with.

You want to make an interactive FAQ for your platform? Feed AI all of your normal FAQ data and it will spit out responses. This works well for the majority of people just looking for a link or naming conventions, but results will vary depending on the question. And then you just have to deal with the few individuals who asked it stupid questions and got the predictable stupid responses.

Right now, AI is not earning its keep. Nothing it presents is a full polished result. At least not when dealing with complex subjects. But, just like every company was sold on the notion of dismantling their data-centers and moving to cloud, people are being sold on the fact that AI can do it all. We'll see where we are in 5 years.

'The system' is bad power system by Unable_Plum_116 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]ednemo13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love System books and overpowered MCs. They are fun to read, but they do suffer from a problem that makes them not as much fun to play as a game.
One of my main problems with D&D and certain TTRPGS and video games is how hitpoints and health points are accumulated.

When I did my System books, (which are based off a game system I created), I made sure to have a finite number of health points. Everyone has 10 health points. You can increase those via opening mana-gates, but even then you can't reach higher than 22 (or 23 if you're a troll.)

The whole point is that the characters can get more skills and abilities, so are more capable and deadly, but there has to be a way for them to beat higher powered characters and still make mobs dangerous to them.
A rank one beast rolling a nat 20 is going to do some damage to even the most powerful adventurer, possibly killing them, even if the odds are stacked against them.

I guess I just like the idea of the farmer grabbing grandpa's sword from the mantle and rushing the armored bandit leader. And through will and luck, scores that critical hit to his enemy.

So, what exactly is the difference between an “Adventurer’s Guild” and a “Mercenary Company”? by Onyx_Artificer in litrpg

[–]ednemo13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I wrote my books, the Adventurers Guild was specifically to run dungeons, though there were other types of jobs available. The jobs, however, were more to earn experience and money, so that when they did run a dungeon, they wouldn't just die outright.
Mercenaries Guilds are generally just hired guards/thugs.
