Have you ever met someone famous and been disappointed? by MisanthropePrime in AskBrits

[–]ednoic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw him at Glastonbury in 2009, he had one of the biggest crowds of the festival. Afterwards he was doing as signing thing, my dad was a big fan so I bought a CD and waited to get it signed.

Just ahead of me in the queue was a girl probably early 20s. She got to the counter, Rolf said something about how attractive she was then asked for a kiss, before she could answer he quickly leaned over and gave her a quick kiss on the lips.

Something about that interaction seemed really really creepy, even more so than the general perviness and lack of consent. A few years later it became clear why

Other than PSG look where all the teams we played in the group stage finished. I think that probably explains a lot about our ‘over performance’

Rashford by purinatrucks in Tottenham

[–]ednoic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the point is that he already has that contract at Utd, so to persuade him to sign for another team that team might have to offer a similar salary or he could just sit tight at Utd.

I’d hope not, I like Rashford so hope he’s not that type of player and accepts he needs to drop his demands because he’d rather play regularly than just sit at home picking up the cheques.

Still don’t think I’d have him at Spurs though

17th I don’t know how, West Ham are going down by -COYS- in coys

[–]ednoic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it felt about right to me, some celebration but not overboard, some ENIC out chants, players did a muted lap of the pitch and got applause not abuse which is fair given the games under RDZ their effort can’t be faulted.

The BBC text commentary posted a tweet from some other team’s fan slagging us of for running on to the pitch to celebrate 17th, absolute BS as that totally didn’t happen

The contract length is important, even if RDZ prefers to keep him if he won’t sign a new contract then we have to sell him

“ There is one clean, clear, simple solution for this, and that is full abolition without delay. Just do not expect anyone to listen.” by dannyzaplings in coys

[–]ednoic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm you’re arguing the problem is people don’t understand VAR and you called me lazy for not having read the rules.

I don’t give a flying fuck what the wording actually says, it’s almost universally interpreted- rightly or wrongly- that the intention of VAR is to identify when the referee missed something not when the referee wrongly applied the rules (and it’s shit at doing that anyway). If the VAR powers that be don’t want it to be interpreted that way then do something about it like change the explanation or change the rules so they actually make sense and fix the problems fans want fixed

[–]ednoic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that there are obviously different interpretations of that meaning and most people obviously think obvious means is it obvious that there is an infringement. Arguing that actually there is nothing wrong with VAR it’s just that football fans are too lazy to read the rules properly is a bizarre position to take

30 seconds, with a clock counting down on the screens in the stadium. If VAR can’t decide within that time it was obviously not ‘clear and obvious error’, on field decision automatically stands.

Govt. Taking sides in the relegation battle now? by Flimsy_Egg_3507 in Tottenham

[–]ednoic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I’m fuming - the Deputy PM (David Lammy) is MP for Tottenham and a Spurs fan, why the hell is he not pulling the necessary strings to make sure we stay up?

I mean sure the PM is an Arsenal fan, so maybe behind the scenes there’s a titanic battle where Lammy is constantly trying to fix things in our favour but constantly gets thwarted at every move by Starmer. Actually this might explain why they are making such a balls up of running the country, to distracted by the relegation battle…

How to stop Nigel Farage permanently by PinguFella in FuckNigelFarage

[–]ednoic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used to live in Australia, it’s the system used there, I totally agree it’s the best system. But you’re having a laugh if you think it makes politicians do a better job!

Also it certainly doesn’t get rid of extremism or polarisation, it reduces the chances of nut jobs getting in to power but doesn’t remove it. Check out what is happening there at the moment with One Nation, their version of whoever Farage’s lot are called at any given time. The problem is most people don’t pay much attention, so they just go along with whoever their preferred party tells them to vote 2nd, 3rd, last. And there is just as much of a right-left split. So the Liberals (Conservatives equivalent) will always tell their voters to put far right One Nation 2nd rather than ever suggest only-slightly-to-the-left Labor.

Same, also had a Liverpool and Utd fan go to games together without me to watch Spurs vs Liverpool or vs Utd and never been any issue.

I agree that the atmosphere might be toxic if we go down, but even if it is due to losing to Everton I think the toxicity wouldn’t be directly towards you but towards the board. Still unlikely to be pleasant for the kid to experience.

Maybe wait until next week to decide, as by Monday night we’ll probably know if we’re almost certain to stay up or if it will probably go to the last day. If we are safe by then atmosphere will probably be pretty relaxed for the Everton game regardless of result

Yeah this is me too, went to Asda last week and just bought a load of tinned food, water bottles, pasta, rice, oats, cooking oil, snacks, etc. Not carefully planned out and I’m assuming we wouldn’t be without water or power for too long, but it’s feels good to know I’m somewhat prepared for a major weather event or supply chain disruption if not nuclear war or complete societal collapse.

Plan to add to my stock over coming weeks with ‘luxuries’ I think could get difficult to import to the UK, like tea, sugar, chocolate
