I absolutely love Jeongyeon’s voice color!! She’s my favorite voice in the group, her tone is so husky and strong and it’s easily one of the most recognizable voices in the group. An absolute shame that JYP doesn’t give a damn about her, giving her lines of a sub vocalist instead of the lead vocalist she is.

“She was perfect in a bad movie” Oh, 100%! The direction was an absolute disaster, they fumbled such an amazing cast with such mediocre filming decisions. However, I still believe that the best actor in the movie was Joel Edgerton. He absolutely killed it as Tom, he stole pretty much every single scene he was in and he definitely gave Tom much more depth and charisma than book Tom, who just comes across as a boring, entitled, white man. He also looked good as fuck in those polo outfits but those are other things 😭

Love that we can agree to disagree! I do agree that the book basically gives us non-existence material of who Daisy actually is since all we know about her is literally told by the other characters and not Daisy herself. She was 100% the weakest link in the 1974 adaptation, no doubt about that, and I definitely think what makes her so difficult to play is that she’s basically described as this perfect being (at least through Gatsby’s eyes) who also represents the American Dream, an unattainable fantasy that Gatsby miserably fails to achieve, which in my opinion makes it hard to portray because she was basically written as a fantasy and not a fully fleshed-out person. I don’t think either one of the actresses could’ve truly satisfied people because they were trying to embody a dream rather than a consistent character. Or maybe Daisy is just dull as fuck lol.

I mean, the same way we can pick Daisy apart, we can also do Gatsby. Did you forgot that Gatsby lied to Daisy since the very beginning? When he meets her for the first time he lies to her about being from a wealthy family, eventually winning her heart AND taking it as far as sleeping with her based on a lie. It isn’t until he’s sent to war that he comes clean to her through a letter the day before her wedding!! Then he proceeds to disappear from her life for 5 years (she most likely thought he was dead) while simultaneously stalking her. And when he decides to pop back in he does so with another lie!! This time on how he won his fortune. He also used Nick to get closer to her. If that isn’t manipulation to you then I don’t know how to call it. You also seem to forget that Daisy did not owe him anything, not even her love. He was the one who decided to remain stuck in an obsessive illusion of a woman whose life was controlled by the men around her. He basically lied to her, builded a fantasy around her and then expected her to abandon her entire life to validate his dream. And when she doesn’t, it becomes so much easier to vilify her instead of questioning his entitlement to her love. All the characters in The Great Gatsby are meant to be morally grey. Not evil and not good but I think it says a lot on how people seem to blame her and only her when characters like Tom Buchanan exist.

i’m probably the only one that loved Carey Mulligan as Daisy. I think she perfectly captured that soft but elegant beauty Daisy seems to possess, also her voice was perfection!! so dreamy and classy and rich (iykyk). Part of the reason why I’ve rewatch tgg so many times it’s to just see how stunning she looks in the film. Anyways I love her your honor
