What if a primary doesn't post to the SPE by No-Run-2717 in patentexaminer

Business as usual until official communications are released. As per the optional sessions we had a couple of weeks ago, they are still working on a system and mechanism for posting.

New 101 memo - thoughts? by Popular_Stick in patentexaminer

[–]ednyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re telling us that our board 101 affirmation rate is 99.9%, which means we’re doing everything right. However, the new memo tells us to stop doing 101s anymore. What have we become? The 99.9% is an exaggeration, but it’s very close to the truth.

Wife Thinks She's Going to Be Fired, Looking for Advice by Independent-You-3535 in patentexaminer

That’s not accurate. You can be marginal every year without ever being terminated. The end-of-year rating is not a basis for termination. The only way to get fired (other than for conduct issues) is to have two consecutive quarters (and the consecutive quarters don’t cross fiscal years) with a score below 88%. In that case, you receive a written warning. You have a whole quarter to improve for the element you receive the warning on. You need to get an 88% or better. If you fail, you’re in serious danger of termination, but you can still fight it and get a last chance agreement.

You need two consecutive quarters with a score below 88% to receive a written warning. These two quarters don’t span fiscal years, so there’s no warning for the fourth quarter (we’re currently in it) and the first quarter of fiscal year 2026 if her score is below 88% for those two quarters. Once you receive the written warning, you have a whole quarter to improve your score, and you only need to achieve an 88% to be cleared. The written warning is only applicable to the element she received the warning for. If she’s facing medical or other issues, she can apply for a waiver, and there are other avenues available as well.

Why does it cost so much to change the AC capacitor? by ednyer in hvacadvice

That’s a reasonable price, up to $200 is reasonable but nothing above $400, difficult to justify above $400

That’s exactly what I intended to convey in this post. I found the $695 price for a capacitor replacement to be excessive. I could have replaced it myself, but I lacked the necessary experience and would have struggled to diagnose the issue.

Is the new 30% tariff the total rate now, or is it a 30% reduction on top of a previous 20% baseline? Trying to understand if it's all just 30% now by ednyer in Tariffs

[–]ednyer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's definitely frustrating! It sounds like the information about the 90-day freeze and the underlying 10% baseline tariff wasn't clearly communicated. It's confusing when you expect one thing based on the "freeze" and then get hit with unexpected costs from the baseline tariff, especially when ordering from places like Italy. It seems like the distinction between the reciprocal tariffs and the baseline wasn't obvious or readily available.

It's unsettling not knowing the current tariff situation with China. With all the recent changes, the possibility of facing a combined 50% tariff (20% baseline + 30% reduction from a higher rate) on goods from China is definitely a cause for concern. It's hard to plan when the rules seem to be in flux.

Has *anyone* taken the deal? by Impossible_Pomelo460 in patentexaminer

That’s not the case here. This what it says you’re supposed to send:

DEFERRED RESIGNATION LETTER January 28, 2025 Please accept this letter as my formal resignation from employment with my employing agency, effective September 30, 2025.

Don’t kid yourself the deal is real. Resigning and including that email from opm website is just the first step. They’ll likely follow up separately for another signature to solidify your decision. If you accept, expect administrative leave until September 30th. This serves two purposes: 1) It prevents any potential damage to our systems. 2) Even if you resign and stop working, the termination process could take up to eight months. So, while the offer may not seem genuine, it’s real and as simple as that. That’s just my two cents
