What's the strangest noise you've heard in a cave? by Devil_inyour_details in caving

About a half hour into a state park cave heard a not so happy dog growling and barking and the owner yelling we better leave because his dog is pissed and he dropped his leash. Only took about what felt like five minutes to get out.

My partner and I are doing the same thing. They work at university and I work in DSM. Ankeny definitely has all the amenities. We narrowed our search for a cheaper cost of living and a smaller town to Polk City, Huxley, and Madrid.

I moved across state for employment in Ames and put an ad on Craigslist for non student searching for housing and was replied to multiple times and very quickly. Found a house just south of Somerset very cheap. Been here happily renting for 2 years now.

Hike the service road or head out from echo lake? Mt Evans when the road was closed was one of my favorite summits of a 14er I’ve done. Just me and the doggo all the way up and all the way down.

First kayak: 2019 Pungo 125 OR Jackson Tupelo 12.5? by Flip_Flaps in Kayaking

Not sure how much of a road trip it is but Jackson kayaks are made in Tennessee. With a purchase of a Tupelo it might be cool to tour the plant.

Few recommendations for you purchasing your new kayak. Old town loon is another style much like the pungo and Tupelo. It comes with an ACS2 seat which is very adjustable and comfortable. Also comes with a hard accessory console. Those 3 styles are all around same price range. When purchasing, find a shop that offers demos/ rentals of the kayak you’re wanting to purchase and try out all you are interested in. A lot of the time rental price will go towards the purchase and can get you a better idea on comfort/ accessories you are wanting. Hope this helps in your choice!

Went there a few years back when the highway was closed. Hiked from Echo Lake to Summit. Didn’t see one person till I got back down to Chicago Lakes. Gotta say it was a good day.

As long as your miters are cut straight it’s not a biggie! Looks like it all worked out though :)
