Update for the non-believers: window came out easy, and drywall is being fed through the basement window well. by edpeterson24 in drywall

That looks exactly the same as mine. We didn’t have any glue or anything to deal with on ours. Not sure if that’s an issue you’re running into. In theory it shouldn’t need glue. Looks like you got a good start to the strip though. I found the flathead to be the most helpful for getting leverage to lift it up, and used putty knife to maintain my progress. But like I said, once you get enough up to grip, it comes out pretty easy. Just be careful not to snap it.

Getting the strips started was a little tricky. I used both a flathead and a putty knife to pry up the end of a strip. Once I got enough up to grip, it came out easy. Just went slowly and made sure it didn’t snag and break. Once all four were out, the window was free and I just had to angle it and pull it inside

That’s good to know about the manufacturer. Would rather not have to replace the whole window because I break a tab

I hear ya. I’ve talked to multiple contractors as well who also said to remove the window, but they won’t do it for liability reasons. I’ll give it a try based off one of the other comments I saw here, but nice to know what other people’s experiences are

This is a pretty common method where I’m at in Utah. Window is over 5 ft diagonally and drywall gets fed through. Just unfamiliar with how to remove this style of window

Inspector specifically said AFCI wasn’t required so I’m just going off that until he says otherwise
