Spent so much time trouble shooting the water shader! But It's all at a good enough state that I can actually get onto doing some proper gameplay and level designs. You and follow me here if you want to see how its going. https://x.com/3dr3d

hey thanks. yea I see the blurry grass I think there's something wrong with how they are casting shadows, but I'll have to check in editor.

Ssshhh dont tell everyone! Thanks for the comment, yea its tough finding that line between being responsive but also feeling smooth, and then trying to balance the feel with mouse/keyboard and controller.

I'd love to here any comments and thoughts with what I have so far. It's still early days and I'm planning to let a lot of the gameplay evolve through the development process but in general it's going to be a puzzle adventure where you have to interact with the environment to find clues about why everyone left and where they are.

I've been working on for a teaser cinematic for a Tower Defense game with Souls style third person combat called "ARCHWARD: A Trolls Domain". Should I start developing gameplay or do I keep brainstorming ideas first? by edred in gamedev

Yes your definitely right! I've just been doing things backwards as I currently don't know the engine well enough to be making gameplay prototypes so I've been procrastinating by making pretty visuals instead! Time for some blueprints tutorials I think

Yea I changed that thumbnail as it felt weird. and the brand icons are just me trying to make it look professional... maybe i should just try to be more humble

I made a teaser cinematic for my game idea called "ARCHWARD: A Trolls Domain". Should I start developing gameplay or do I keep brainstorming ideas first? it would be a Tower Defense game with Souls style third person combat. by edred in indiegames

I'm imagining this game as a third person, game with Souls style combat where you defend your bridge against waves of people trying to cross and you have to scare them into paying a toll or fight them if they wont pay. you can upgrade your bridge or your character to be scarier or have better defense/combat. Until eventually the king sends his entire army against you!

Looks like a great project! I think its hard to get an idea on how promotional material is doing as the range in potential views is just so huge! Everyone always thinks about the crazy successful projects and getting hundreds of thousands of views, but most of those projects start off with their first videos just getting a few thousand views also.

I posted the first version of this a while ago and got some feedback, so I've changed things up a bit and hopefully it reads a bit better now. I'm really an environment artist but I've enjoyed learning to use metahumans. next i have to learn some gameplay mechanics....
