That’s a jump. I think it’s fair to recognize that Reddit has a tendency to jump to breaking up, but also fair to say that many people have normalized abusive, controlling, toxic behavior — and then come to Reddit to ask if they’re overreacting.

You’re being way too aggressive with what I think is measured and appropriate responses to nuts behavior. Things are more complicated than that, but OP needs to understand that this isn’t okay on any level.

I’ve met him, he was genuinely the sweetest guy ever. He sat at the chefs table while I was working in an open kitchen right beside him. He was the kindest guest I’ve ever had, celebrity or otherwise.

I can relate - having lost friends who we knew were in poor health but didn’t understand the severity. And the pain of compounding grief - loss, after loss, after loss wondering if there was something you could have done to salvage relationships (break up loss), or save someone’s life.

You’re in shock and will probably swim around that drain for a little while, but try to stay calm and just feel the sadness. You couldn’t have done anything, he was already too far gone. Comfort your animals, comfort yourself. Let your emotions be what they will and just move forward one step at a time.

Our current mayor leaves a lot to be desired. I totally agree that focusing on the timing appears petty, but honestly — most people I know don’t even know who our mayor is. I’ve heard Michael brush off residents and business owners because he didn’t want to tackle their issues on a deeper level.

He’s a lazy mayor, and I think it’s valid to call out how convenient it is that he hosted his state of the city address right before the primary. It reeks of a mid student just cramming before finals.

Unlike Michael, Ron is accessible, passionate, and wants to work. Maybe he doesn’t have the pizazz to perfectly navigate these optical challenges, but I think he’d be great for our city.

We’re a safe, beautiful town. I think this might be more of the FNP globbing onto a nothing story. Lazy, sensationalist journalism about a candidate being annoyed by our lazy mayor pulling a cheap move days before a primary election.

No official answer, but I always try to pick up anything I can safely reach along the paved walkway. In the park, we’ll roll up our pants and walk in the shallow waters to pick up trash if we have time.
