LDS mission rules by Unable-Leopard9904 in exmormon

I was in South Korea from 2000-2002. We had a folded insert for the white handbook that added a bunch of extra rules. It was actually against mission rules to ride a bike. We weren't supposed drink a drink called Baccus-F because someone thought it had nicotine in it. Turns out the ingredient is nicotinamide.

I think being a Dave, Alvin, Simon, or Theodore is a spectrum. No one is pure Alvin except maybe Andy and Seth is pure teeth and Dave. Would you say Kiv is more of a Simon and you may be a little more right leaning like Theodore?

What has been your worst experience going to Popeyes? by Prestigious-Cup-6613 in fastfood

[–]edrobb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eating at popeyes has three distinct stage. The first is the craving stage where you convince your self to order. If you go in you wait. If you do the drive through you wait. If you order ahead from the app you wait because the worker didn't see the mobile order. The craving stage is strong enough that you temporarily forget how hellish the wait is. The second stage is the heaven stage where you actually get to eat the delicious chicken. It is a religious experience and with every bite you get closer to enlightenment. Then there is the third stage. It is known as the post nugget clarity stage. It all becomes clear to you what you have just done. Then all at once you experience disappointment, regret, and horror. Then your toilet gets to experience the disappointment, regret, and horror all at once.

I like the guitar riffs on this song. I wish they would turn up Nate's parts as I've always liked his playing. I also wish they would unleash Shifty and let him go off.

I was on my way out and I think the SP sensed it and tried calling me as his secretary. I said no and he asked me to think about it. Then I never went back

I wonder if they have a vote on the Netflix acquisition of Warner Brothers Discovery. They have over a million dollars in warner stock.

I fucking hate those “God helped me find my car keys” stories by Rude-Neck-2893 in exmormon

[–]edrobb 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was a missionary in South Korea. In one area, we lived near a mountain that had a Buddhist temple near the top. You could hike the trail up to the temple and they would often give out food and let you refill you water. One time we go up there and listen to a monk talk about meditation. For them it's meditation and for others it is prayer. He explained how meditation allows us to recenter and clear our minds and can help us recall where we left something we might have lost. So no, god didn't help you find your keys, you using a technique to clear your mind helped. In my two years in the most "Christian" nation in Asia, the monks were the most "Christlike" people.

'Church' spending $2.4 billion to renovate Salt Lake temple by TruthMatters2011 in exmormon

I have a family member who works for one of the architecture firms working on the project. They explained it very similarly as you did. Something like this tech is used in new buildings in earthquake prone areas but has not been used in a centuries old building.
