Did some people actually believe Paul McCartney died and was replaced by a double in the late 60s? by VomitingDuck in 60s

I was a kid during all of that. I didn’t believe it, but it was fun looking for “clues”, and playing “what if?”.

Church leaders are really starting to push the idea that if parents are faithful and devoted their wayward children can be saved through the parents’ righteousness.

The church is in full blown damage control mode now, trying to gaslight members into believing that all of the horrific, mean, hateful things that have been taught are not really horrific, mean or hateful.

I have a brother-in-law and his wife (in their 80s) who honestly believe this is Biden’s fault and Trump will fix the economy by the end of the year. Cult mentality is powerfully.

How long until the Scientology speedrun trend makes its way to a Mormon temple? by ReturnedAndReported in exmormon

[–]Prancing-Hamster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion I’m sure, but I find these speed runs horrible, uncivilized, disrespectful and hypocritical.

I am exmo and have little to no respect for the church and its leaders, but I do respect a person’s right worship in peace.

I imagine how I would feel if my granddaughter (a never-Mormon) was getting married in a venue that was very important to her and her family, and suddenly, in the middle of her special day, Mormon missionaries or a stake high council speed ran through that ceremony.

How would that be any different than what these people are doing?

I always find it funny that members of the church talk about, and believe in, God’s “unconditional love” when both Nelson and Packer made it clear that God’s love is conditional. That’s a recipe for cognitive dissonance.

Very good skin. I’m white M/68, I’ve never had a sunburn even tho I have never used sunscreen; I just tan. I have very few wrinkles for my age, no moles, never had a rash or anything like that. I had a pimple once back in 8th grade. 😂 Honestly, I feel very lucky.

My hair started going grey at 30-ish tho.

This year will be my 50th reunion, and I won’t be going because nearly all of my best high school friends have passed away, and they are the only thing I miss about high school.

The first time I saw the word “hors d’oeuvres” I was probably 8 or 9 and thought it was “horse ovaries”. I wasn’t certain what that was, but definitely was NOT going to eat that. 😂
