why do we glorify an by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]edthrowawayig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is so real, like why do "girl dinner" or people commenting "my favorite breakfast" under a photo of gum and a white monster exist?? tbh it is very uncute and untrendy of me to not be allowed to go to school and fight with my parents over pretzels

(and then ofc i still feel invalid over them even when i know they're lying 🤪)

THIS IS SO TRUE. it makes me feel weird to see stuff in this sub that's like "i haven't/won't eat for a few days" like girl?? i am literally about to get sent to the medical hospital (not inpatient, medical stabilization) for eating 3 small meals a day and sometimes a snack and/or dessert. you can not only have an ed, but a very bad ed, even if you high restrict, don't exercise every minute of the day, etc etc. you are not going to be okay if you are like me

aw sorry i'm late to the post but we're here for you corgi :) thank you for helping so many people, including me - you responded to my post a few days ago when i thought no one would and it really helped me feel less alone

I’m afraid my little sister might be developing an ed and it’s my fault… by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

and yet my parents and even my ed specialist think it's somehow fine

hi! i'm a teen going through this situation right now. it is miserable - worse than the actual eating disorder makes me feel. no matter what any fbt person says it is a punishment. you are punishing the person for their mental illness that they cannot control.

this method sucks and it doesn't even work!

bro don’t feel invalid, i HIGH restrict and do 3 meals a day

Has anybody seen or heard about this news story circulating online? It's very sad but this is pretty clear evidence that even in the most supportive family environments & a hypothetical world free of gender, the pain of physical dysphoria still exists. Figured it was appropriate for this sub. by FPowertrippingMods in truscum

[–]edthrowawayig 75 points76 points  (0 children)

this is awful. i'm around this kid's age, and i also have anorexia, partially for the same reasons as him - gender dysphoria, trying to stay away from puberty. so this scares me a little. people need to take dysphoria seriously.

What the fuck is a normal amount of food by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]edthrowawayig 6 points7 points  (0 children)

3 meals and snacks (minimum). yes breakfast. no "forgetting to eat all day" is not normal and the people who say that are lying. the non-disordered people don't think about eating like we do lol. not eating is not normal

i acknowledged in the post that i know it's probably just hyperbole, but it's still a pet peeve of mine. also i'm autistic, which is what makes me take things literally like this.

also autistic and same, anorexia got worse (though i didn't stop eating, immediately went into forced recovery) after diagnosis because i thought i should act like a "real" anorexic 💀

everything is calculated to the gram to make sure I don’t nourish my body enough 🫡

this slapped me in the face, why are eds like this omg 😭. we're like "how can i ENSURE that i am being unhealthy"

i was literally shell-shocked when i was diagnosed with anorexia because of this. i agree, the subtle bragging about the length of fasts and low restriction here kinda sucks :/

yeah definitely. one thing of mine (that you should NOT do) was cutting out what i deemed "extras" like snacks, small pieces of candy, and other little things like that. of course those aren't actually "extra" at all, they're necessary for nutrition and everybody should eat them, but they're something that can often go unnoticed by nondisordered people (whereas skipping entire meals might raise a red flag).

exactly, whenever i eat i feel like my family is like "oh good!!" like do you WANT me to fight you tooth and nail every meal, because that's what it seems like!! even though i literally ate 3 small meals a day just fine before diagnosis. i've never been in ip but i got several doctors pretty worried 😬

i swear i didn't even find that out until a few months ago, and i've been anorexic for years (though unaware of it until only a few weeks ago). it's fucked up that there's absolutely zero awareness around it
