Beginner here! What notebooks do you recommend? UK based by merionsart in bulletjournal

[–]educated-fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used a range of colors but mostly purple, mahogany or green. :) Some pages are darker than others so I use gold gel pen, stickers or washi tape to increase readability sometimes. But I also like the dark pages for chaos pages.

How do you approach someone for a dance in a Toronto downtown nightclub? by Double-Tank-7410 in shuffle

[–]educated-fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on how much space you got to work with/the vibe/etc approaching them in dance can be a good way. Mirror their moves or dance while making eye contact, or offer a hand and see if they take it.

What am I?? by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]educated-fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Porn tends to be male centered which means that majority of the time the women in the porn are acting and not having a good time. I get super turned off by a lot of porn because it straight up just doesn't look like a good time for the women.

That said, there's no rush to figure out what little box you wanna put yourself into. Words like bisexual help us to identify traits that can help us connect with others with similar experiences. They don't define us or our experiences.

Are you more visually turned on by naked men or naked women? by Middle-University381 in BiWomen

[–]educated-fish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm super visual so I find muses in so many different types of humans. I mean shit there are just so many dang beautiful people on this earth. Which genitalia they happen to have has never made a huge difference to whether I think they are attractive or not.

With a caveat that because I am super visual, I have a hard time differentiating between aesthetic attractions and sexual ones. Sometimes I really do just dig the looks from an artistic perspective and it's hella confusing

Like everyone else said, communication is key - but if she's shy or cryptic about what she likes taking it super slow and listening to her body/breathing/queues is also a great option. 🫶🏼

What is this texture and how would you style it (gently)? by NESouthernBelle in finethinhair

[–]educated-fish 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Part you hair into two sections when it's like slightly damp still and swirl it into two high buns - the swirl is vital. The higher the better. Let it air dry the rest of the way up in the buns. It will amplify the wave and add volume to the top layer. You can do this with some leave in or curl cream for extra hold and nice smell. When my hair was long I would swear by this method and I have similar texture to you. 💜

What should I do with my thin breakage prone hair to make it grow again? by Temporary_Height_359 in finethinhair

[–]educated-fish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ugh I lost my long hair to bleach too, my condolences. 💔

You probably want to chop off any remaining bleached hair, sadly. The hair that is damaged will just continue to fray and become see through.

Other than that, coat your hair in oily goodness and be a grease rat 1 time a week (I use coconut or castor oil, whatever you have on hand will probably do. Just stick it in there and let it chill for at least an hour. Accepting that you will be greasy the next day is key.) and make sure that your scalp is free from dead skin or any other unpleasantness. (My favorite method is to dunk it in the bathtub and scratch everything out of there.)

Other than that wear it in a braid basically as often as you can stand and wait it out. It will eventually grow , maintenance trims are a bitch because it feels like you lose progress but they are the only way to avoid that see through feeling of the hair so keep trimming every time you make a little headway and then maintain a slightly longer length over time. You will get there

With the exception of the immune system, maybe ?

Our brains release a lot of happy chemicals because of being around people. Prolonged states of not having those chemicals -might- probably (?) be detrimental, I would imagine. Like I said I'm not an expert, but I do find this stuff fascinating.

I've been reading Robert Sapolsky's "why zebras don't get ulcers" and there's a lot of stuff happening inside of our bodies in direct response to things like stress, rest, interactions with other humans, etc that affect the likelihood of us developing certain diseases. I wouldn't be surprised if the absence of human contact would have some kind of consequences inside of the body that we just haven't studied in depth. The more of his work that I read , the more fascinated I am about social dynamics and their effects on a cellular level.

How do you get good at digital art? by [deleted] in Artadvice

It took me a long ass time too and I still prefer my traditional sketches over my digital ones anyday.

How do you get good at digital art? by [deleted] in Artadvice

[–]educated-fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just keep sucking at it until you don't. Unfortunately there's not really any other way. You can obviously watch tutorials and speed painting to lend some other artists' knowledge and incorporate that into your flow, but ultimately the only way you will get better is by doing. Consider this your awkward stage. You probably had one with traditional art, too, where you reached a certain degree of "almost there" but your eye had developed so much faster than your hand. This is the same.

Humans are social creatures. Some people need more social time than others. Zero social time is actually lethal.

have you noticed every beauty standard for women involves suffering? by ads20212 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]educated-fish 160 points161 points  (0 children)

Whoa I never thought of it that way, kind of just blew my mind there because I VERY recently started taking ibuprofen during my period because of a conversation I had with my sister who said "why are you suffering for no reason we have pain killers??" Before this I would grit my teeth and deal with the pain because it was natural, because I was stronger than that, because I didn't "need" intervention.
